Please remember that when you nominate a redirect for deletion, you need to add {{rfd}} prior to the redirect on its page as well. I have tagged this one for you.
It looks like you have moved your talk page to a subpage (I'm guess you moved it along with your user page). I've disabled the redirect and changed it into a link to the subpage as an archive. I did that as new comments belong on your talk page so that they actually register as new messages. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks. -- JLaTondre 16:21, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Magic Square tables
editHi, I noticed your request for assistance in the Magic square article. I tweaked your table code a bit to make the squares truly square, and formatted them to look like wiki tables. The code is cross browser, and should work nicely. Feel free to tweak it more if you'd like. Note that the width and height of the tables are in 'ems', which is a scalable unit, so the tables scale with font size changes. I've been using a width of '8em' for 4 column tables, and '6em' for 3 column tables, basically, two ems for each column or row. Hope this helps! Phidauex 18:03, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Hello! I don't know if you're still interesting in working on the article, but I remembered you tried to make a push on WP:CVG for more editors on Pac-Man (which is how it came to my attention). Over the last couple of weeks I've put a lot of work into the article, adding many references and trying to clean it up according to the (now even bigger) To-Do list made following the failed GA nomination. I just wanted to let you know that I've improved the article somewhat, but huge sections (particularly after the first page are still a bit of a mess. In any case, thanks for putting up the To-do list and other work so it was easy to pick up where you left off. I'm almost ready to pack it in myself, with the mountain of work that lays ahead to make the article reach GA and FA. --SevereTireDamage 20:44, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Ack! That advice is for after you subst that template into an article.
That said, that really needs to be protected, since it needs to stay unchanged until it has been substed in all the articles in which it appears. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 04:50, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Can't help with protection. Not an admin... yet. NeonMerlin 04:52, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, that was more or less talking to myself. I just protected it. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 04:53, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
TfD Question
editAlso posted in the discussion at Mergedisputed:
The debate is not being reopened, it is being rerun. Typically, if an appreciable period of time has elapsed, DRV will not reopen a debate, for precisely the reason you mention. Consider the template anew. Xoloz 21:39, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Your suggestions
editThank you for taking the time to help us out, Merlin! I just wanted to reply on a couple of points, if you don't mind. You said:
- Presumably, your clients give permission for their logos to be used on Wikipedia. You can indicate this by tagging your uploads {withpermission} as well as {logo}. This will decrease the chance of the image's deletion and may make it easier to reproduce the image in other editions of Wikipedia.
Funny, I did do exactly that ({withpermission} as well as {logo}) on the image for the article on The Family and Workplace Connection, but it was flagged yesterday as needing more info on "fair use" criteria. I did update the image with several notes on why the logo is legitmately used in this space, so I hope that does the trick. Any other suggestions on how to keep our clientele's logos from being marked for deletion would be much appreciated.
You also said:
- Some of the articles you work on, such as Rockfish Seafood Grill, fail to establish the importance of their subject matter. There must be dozens, maybe hundreds, of seafood chains with at least eight locations.
The Rockfish Seafood Grill is not a client of MyWikiBiz.com -- I was merely making a small edit to it in my "travels" on the site.
Thanks again for your help and support. -- MyWikiBiz 02:28, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:MS Sam.ogg)
editThis file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:MS Sam.ogg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Graham talk 08:22, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Congrats--Your talk page is on Google
editLOL, Ouch! Search MyW{{i}}kiBiz-dot-com yourself. About 8 hits down you get this: User talk:NeonMerlin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- The Rockfish Seafood Grill is not a client of MyWikiBiz.com -- I was merely making a small edit to it in my "travels" on the site.' ...
Ahem! Suggest you vandalize that 'dot' word above where-ever it may occur. A judicious misspelling should do it. MiWykiBiz_com should just about do it! Good luck! // FrankB 17:30, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
- Eight hits down? That's odd; I just searched, and it was only the 17th hit. (Still higher than one would expect; guess it's a PageRank quirk caused by all the links to this page from pages I've signed.) NeonMerlin 20:51, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Your signature
editCould you make your signature a bit less garish, please? I normally wouldn't complain, and I realize there are others with worse signatures etc. etc. but your particular signature is highly distracting from the conversation on pages where you have made a lot of replies. Take this for example, the 9 transclusions of your signature make it almost impossible to actually read the topic. Help Prevent Article Deletion: Religious Perspectives on Dinosaurs
editHello, I'm leaving you this message because I notice you've made at least one significant edit to the Wikipedia article Religious perspectives on dinosaurs. The article has recently been nominated for deletion from Wikipedia, and there is considerable support for that position.
I'm hoping you'll help me support the continued existence of the Religious perspectives on dinosaurs article by registering a keep vote on the article's request for deletion page. The article contains some good information, and represents an unobtrusive way to present notable minority viewpoints about dinosaurs that cannot reasonably be elaborated on in the parent article. It shouldn't be deleted simply because the viewpoints it presents aren't "scientific."

- What is wrong in your opinion with using "start a new section" for a link? Your comments don't make that clear, the current version violates Wikipedia:Accessibiliy, and changes that violate guidelines require justification for doing so. NeonMerlin 05:02, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- The reason I am reverted your changes twice has nothing to do with the content of the template, but with your approach to the changes. I go into more detail on the template talk page. In the past, this template has been the subject of edit storms as everyone tinkers with it. That's bad for the servers, and has led to the template being protected in the past. I'm trying to forestall the edit storm by directing efforts towards talk first. You can go ahead and edit again if you like, and I will not revert again, but I can virtually guarantee somebody else is going to see the change on their favorite talk page and go and change it how they like, and then someone else will, and then the template gets protected, etc. • All that being said, I actually think you're on the right track with your latest change. But let's see what others think first, please, okay? —DragonHawk (talk) 05:16, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Sims2nlgrilledcheese.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Sims2nlgrilledcheese.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Thank you. Special note to spamlist users: Apologies for the formatting issues in previous issues. This only recently became a problem due to a change in HTML Tidy; however, I am to blame on this issue. Sorry, and all messages from this one forward should be fine (I hope!) -Ral315

Fair use rationale for Image:Squirrel.ogg
editThanks for uploading Image:Squirrel.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 22:15, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

editIt appears that User:N is your doppelganger. FYI, someone has requested usurpation of it. Please see Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations#N ← Nardman1. Greeves (talk • contribs • reviews) 19:31, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I have requested an usurpation of the user name N. I would appreciate it if you would change the one place you signed as N, Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Yu-Gi-Oh:_The_Abridged_Series with your curent signature. If you don't, and this request is approved, I will change it over to avoid confusion. Thanks. Nardman1 19:33, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Village Pump - Proposals
editSince this is a feature request for the MediaWiki application, try putting it on MediaWiki's bug tracker. NeonMerlin 00:36, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hello. You posted this (above) on the Village Pump proposals page, in response to my proposal about adding an Auto-Number feature for Charts and Tables to Wikipedia code. I really don't understand your post. Can you please explain it to me? Thanks a lot. I was told by a few others to post at the Village Pump proposals page. I took a look at the page you referred me to (Bugzilla). To me, that seemed like a page where users report bugs / mistakes in Wikipedia. But, I could be wrong. So, can you please expand on your reply to me, so that I have a better idea of what you are suggesting. Many thanks. Also ... PS ... please respond at my Talk Page, instead of the Village Pump proposals page, if possible. Thanks again (JosephASpadaro 17:02, 30 June 2007 (UTC))
- Hi. I contacted you on June 30 (above) -- today is July 12, and I have not heard back from you. At this point, I am assuming that you do not intend to reply back to me or that you have been too busy to do so. Thanks anyway for directing me to Bugzilla. (JosephASpadaro 18:12, 12 July 2007 (UTC))

Fair use rationale for Image:Papermario.png
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Papermario.png. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FunPika 16:12, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey
editMerlin, I would be willing to help in anything thta you need. I'm not 100% sure I know what you mean, however. You mean asking photographers to give us freely licensed pics, etc? If you want, email me, and maybe we can set up a meeting on IRC. sordonez@wikimedia.org. :)
