License tagging for Image:Starblue.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Starblue.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Sorted Out

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:13, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Re:Royal Navy

I believe that I am currently the only user maintaining the Royal Navy portal, although it's really an informal role. I appreciate your help in completing the portal, and I would make one or two suggestions that might help you going forward:

  1. When selecting articles for "Selected whatever," it's usually best to pick articles that have associated images. Also, you should make sure that the images are "free" - that is, either in the public domain, or liscensed under the GFDL or another free content liscense.
  2. Selected article subpages are best kept simple and without subsections, infoboxes, etc. You can see what I mean at Portal:World War I/Selected event.
  3. Since the "Topics" box could, in theory, be expanded almost infinitely, it's important to keep it trimmed to only really significant things. It's designed to give readers some places to go to read more, not to provide exhaustive (or even semi-exhaustive) lists of ships or battles. Obviously, this means a good deal of editorial judgement, and it can be difficult to know where to draw the line - my feeling is that about twenty or so articles in each column is probably a good starting point, but I don't insist.

Thanks for your help so far, and I hope we can continue to work together on this! Carom 18:45, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Portal:British Army and Portal:British Armed Forces

I am informing you that I have created a portal for the British Army. I am informing you of this because you were planning on starting a portal on the British Armed Force - and I was wondering if you wanted to help in in uniting the three British armed forces portals under one. They will all have their seperate portal but there will be an armed forces portal that hs tabs to the three portals and vice versa. If you want to help, and you want more details, tell me on my talk page. Jhfireboy Talk 20:12, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Promotion to Lieutenant-General on Portal:British Army

I would like to "promote" you to Lieutenant-General on Portal:British Army (effectively a lead contributor). If you would like to accept just add yourself to the list found on Portal:British Army/Things You Can Do. Jhfireboy Talk 23:16, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

MfD nomination of Portal:Royal Naval Service

Portal:Royal Naval Service, a page you created, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Royal Naval Service and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London

Wikimedia UK logo

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

Speedy deletion of Pertingent case

A tag has been placed on Pertingent case requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. AfD nomination of London Buses route 616

I have nominated London Buses route 616, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/London Buses route 616. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. jenuk1985 (talk) 00:40, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Please notify authors of speedy deletion nominations

Hello. Thank you for your efforts to nominate inappropriate articles for speedy deletion. The general custom when nominating an article for speedy deletion is to notify the creator of the article. The speedy deletion template actually includes boilerplate text you can use to notify the article's creator, or packages such as Twinkle do that automatically for you. Not doing so is somewhat discourteous and can cause feelings of bad will. That being said, your contributions are very much appreciated. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 18:15, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

London School Buses

Let me know when you have finished fiddling with this article, and I'll step in to give it a big tidy up (which it needs), to make it more like Night buses in London. Ta! Jenuk1985 | Talk 11:56, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I see you are already on the case, if you need any input, just let me know! Jenuk1985 | Talk 13:04, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to try and format the lists of stops in the same way as the Night Buses in London article (if you think they should remain in the bullet point format, tell me) and expand the history sections and infobox information.Spacevezon (talk) 13:07, 21 March 2009 (UTC) [note: this comment has been moved from User Talk:Jenuk1985 to keep discussion in one place]
Nope, that's fine, it reads much better that way, with no annoying spaces. Just a few tips to help you:
Add the {{clear}} template after each route section (just before the heading for the next route), this will stop the infoboxes from overlapping with other sections. For individual headings within the route section, I suggest using the ; format rather than the traditional = format, I know this goes against the MOS, but I feel this is justified to keep the contents box short. View the source of the Night buses article to see how I have implemented that. Happy editing :) Jenuk1985 | Talk 13:25, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Request reason:

I have not done anything incorrectly, I am a contributer with 1300+ edits. I wish for permission to edit from this IP ( 82.198.250.2 ) adress (so I want some form of IP Block exemption).

Decline reason:

Since you are on the same checkuser-hardblocked IP as User talk:L07ChLeo3, and you made a very similar unblock request at exactly the same time as him and his bot, you are blocked directly for abusing multiple accounts. Hersfold (t/a/c) 08:23, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

IPA characters with slashes

I noticed that you've created a few redirects such as ɟʝ, c͡ç, ç, x, and p that include slashes and go to the page of a particular phone. I don't think this is a good idea for a number of reasons. For example, these pages are those describing phones, not phonemes (which the slashes represent). Also, the /slash has a functional use in wikipedia syntax so that these can never be links in article space (this is why they're red). If you're looking to make quick redirects, those that mimic p (IPA) might be better. — Ƶ§œš¹ [aɪm ˈfɻɛ̃ⁿdˡi] 23:16, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
