Inter-presidency of Donald Trump
edit- Inter-presidency of Donald Trump → Donald Trump#Inter-presidency#(2021–present) (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Too many levels of "huh?" going on here to know what is going on, including the double section redirect target and the lack of this term being in the target article. Steel1943 (talk) 22:12, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- It's a simple typo of the section #Inter-presidency (2021–present) that existed at time of redirect creation. The section is renamed #First post-presidency (2021–2025) so update/retarget that. Hyphenation Expert (talk) 00:02, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Not anymore, the "Too many levels of huh?" was part of an edit war that was just solved and has been concluded with an edit request to change the title. Since you two already do not know what I'm talking about, I will explain.

- Wading birds → Wader (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Seems to me that these should point to the same target, possibly a disambiguation page. Cremastra ‹ u — c › 16:40, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Both should point to "Wader (American)", I don't really see any evidence that the term "wading bird" is regularly used for waders/shorebirds in any part of the world. TBH "Wader (American)" is a bizarre title that should probably be moved to "Wading bird". Somatochlora (talk) 17:31, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Target both to Wader: "Waders ... are birds ... commonly found wading ...". Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:31, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

Relisting comment: Target both to Wader? Or to Wader (American)?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, CycloneYoris talk! 01:26, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- Wader (American), the article there mentions the term "Wading bird" as a common term. There's a hatnote there already, it should help navigating to Wader. Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 02:15, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- I came here from an article linking wading bird as a more general term. Depending on how this closes, someone might want to retarget those types of links. Its usage onwiki can be found here. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 06:20, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think targeting this to wader makes the most sense as we have Category:Wading birds. A hatnote for Wader (American) should suffice for the few people who are looking for that specifically. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 06:30, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

Not mentioned in target article. Apparently, it stands for "God Emperor of the United States", and humorously refers to the target, but there's no context in the target article. With all that being said, delete or weak retarget to God Emperor Trump (for reasons that are probably clear by the article name and content, but the redirect and what it means isn't specifically mentioned there either). Seems to be an apparent joke. Yes, it is true that "hee hee" is often repeated in the target page's subject's songs, but that does not justify keeping for a redirect for that. TheTechie@enwiki (she/they | talk) 19:05, 31 December 2024 (UTC)

Change to disambiguation page due to the presence of Iansan, a Genshin Impact character. HKLionel (talk) 18:13, 31 December 2024 (UTC) Proposal modified: Redirect instead to List of Genshin Impact characters#Iansan; no direct mention of the term "Iansan" anywhere in target article, closest terms are "Yàńsàn", "Iansá", "Iansã" and "Ìyáńsàn", none of which justify a redirect - and even if they do, not justified over direct usage of "Iansan" in the character's name. I could also argue that the character has more modern relevance than the deity, but not my main point. HKLionel (talk) 18:26, 31 December 2024 (UTC) No objection to 59.149.117.119. Nomination can be closed. HKLionel (talk) 15:02, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Keep as the WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT by long-term significance. This is a valid alternative spelling of the current target, and comprises the overwhelming majority of the Google Books hits [1]. The list entries for the video game character and the fish genus mentioned at List of prehistoric cartilaginous fish genera#I can be added as hatnotes. 59.149.117.119 (talk) 07:47, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

- doesn't directly refer to his second presidency as a sequel. rather, it seems to be about his wacky hijinks in the not burning the world department
- i guess "the trump sequel" is close enough
- evidently refers to it as a sequel as a joke, but it's probably good enough
- seems to refer to everything about the presidency and how people are handling it, except what the annoying orange will actually do. also evidently refers to those effects as a sequel as a joke, but it probably works
- "hollywood's trump resistance: the sequel" is not the same as "trump: the sequel"
- oh, it's an episode of a tv program. hate that that's how i finally pieced it together, but it's about that episode, and not necessarily the presidency

Ambiguous target, as there are multiple association football/soccer players with surname Johnson, as per List of people with surname Johnson. No evidence that people would be primarily looking for a 1904 Olympian (when the Olympics was not a big deal) over any other soccer player with that surname. Retarget to List of people with surname Johnson#Sports or delete would be better. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:30, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- Note: This redirect was created as result of an AFD where I supported redirecting: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Johnson (soccer). On further reflection, I decided that I thought the redirect was a bad idea, for the reasons above. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:32, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- Retarget to List of people with surname Johnson and add anonymous uses there, to go along with soccer players who are not nameless -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 16:39, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- Retarget to List of people with surname Johnson#Sports. The Olympian in question may have had that surname, but he's not the only player with it. There are multiple notable soccer players with that surname, and having that redirect target its current target can block people from accessing other articles (not to mention WP:ASTONISHing them). - Delete. It's clear from the context why this was created. It was a bad idea though, and there's no reason why it would be at all useful in any other context. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 20:46, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

- Delete "Elsett" in this context is a quirky romanisation of الست 'the lady' in several Arabic dialects. It's the same word for example as in the nearby Qabr Essit, or the alternative name Sitt Zaynab mentioned in the lead of Sayyidah Zaynab itself. That said, even in Arabic مسجد الست 'mosque of the lady' is ambiguous, and in English this exact phrase "Great Mosque of (El/Al/Es/As) (Sitt/Sett/Sit/Set)" seems totally unused, with zero Google or Google Books hits for any of the various plausible romanisations. 59.149.117.119 (talk) 23:22, 31 December 2024 (UTC)

Tradiční Lovecký salám
editlovecký salám (hunting salami, apparently) is mentioned in the article, but not necessarily its "traditional" variant. has incoming links, but their classification as traditional seems to be unsourced and not necessarily correct cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 12:43, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- should mention that lovecký salám already exists, so the links could easily be fixed, if any fixing needs to be done cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 12:46, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Lovecký salám was applied for as a EU Traditional Speciality Guaranteed-product (TSG). That means that -in order to use the name- all products in the EU have to be produced according to the specs provided in the application. following opposition, the name Tradiční Lovecký salám was accepted as a TSG (see here). That means that one can use the name Lovecký salám without regards to what the product looks like, but Tradiční Lovecký salám is subject to the characteristics in the description. The name is therefore worth a redirect as people may be interested and this is the closest page we can offer. Having said that, the current characterisation of Lovecký salám as a TSG i incorrect; and I will change that. An alternative is redirecting to List of traditional specialities guaranteed by country, but for me that feels too generic... L.tak (talk) 09:29, 26 November 2024 (UTC)

Template:CURRENT YEAR
edit- Template:CURRENT YEAR → Template:CURRENTISOYEAR (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
This redirect is one space away from the magic word {{CURRENTYEAR}}. But it redirects to {{CURRENTISOYEAR}}, which apparently uses a calendar system where the year is currently 2025. Four of the five template-space usages seemed to be erroneous: [10] [11] [12] [13]. I have no opinions on retargeting vs replacing the remaining usage and deleting, but as-is, I think this is an entirely unnecessary footgun. — Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 00:21, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: @Mdaniels5757: As of this comment, this redirect has 179 transclusions, not just the 1 in the template space. (I found a few where {{CURRENT YEAR}} is hardcoded in the article itself.) Best solution here to avoid anything breaking is to replace all transclusions with either the current target or the proposed target prior to this discussion being closed. - @Mdaniels5757: You were! I had an edit conflict, but I had to add "in the template space" to my comment after rereading your comment. Either way though, the nominated redirect is hardcoded in some articles, so the transclusions will have to be reevaluated after any of the pages which transclude the templates you edited are purged.
