Johnny Pontiff - Guitarist, Singer, Songwriter

Johnny Pontiff was born in 1955 in Houma, Louisiana. Johnny spent his childhood in the deep south listening to the delta blues, rock and roll and country music. By the age of 12, Johnny started playing guitar and writing music. In 1978, Johnny started a band called "Cottonmouth" with local childhood friends including drummer Gary Hille, bassist Gene Pyle and keyboardist Gerard Trahan.

"Cottonmouth" toured the southern part of the United States performing rock covers and original material until a gig came up as an opening act for Peter Tork and The Monkees Show at The Houma Municipal Auditorium in 1979. Peter approched the band after the show and asked them to join him as his road band. An agreement was reached which allowed "Cottonmouth" to perform its own original material as an opening act for each show and "Peter Tork And The Monkees Show" featuring: "Cottonmouth" was born.

Peter Tork and Cottonmouth toured the East and Midwest US in 1979-80 featuring performances at New York City's Bottom Line Club and Lake Geneva Wisconsin's Playboy Club Resort as well as recording a six song demo at Sire Records in New York City with Sire executive Pat Horgan as producer.

Johnny Pontiff returned to Louisiana in the fall of 1980 and continued collaberations with members of "Cottonmouth" as well as persuing a number of solo projects which have resulted in a large catalogue of original songs including titles such as "Love Is Alive", "Two To Tango", "Anyway", "Gumbo" and "Being".Observerrelate (talk) 06:36, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re: Help

Hmm. Interesting question, unfortunately I'm not sure how to do that. I tell you what, I will ask my admin coach (User:Pedro) about it and we'll see what he says. RC-0722 361.0/1 01:50, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, he says that there is no biography section on WP, so there maybe some confusion about the WP guidelines on biographies. If so, then here is the guideline WP:BLP. RC-0722 361.0/1 13:55, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
