Just One Spring (Spanish: Una sola primavera) is a 2024 drama film co-written, co-produced and directed by Joaquín Pedretti.[1] Starring Majo Cabrera accompanied by Salma Vera, Ever Enciso and Miguel Romero.[2] It is about a woman who fights for her revolutionary ideals in the middle of the Paraguayan Civil War, but is forced to leave the country.[3] It is a co-production between Paraguay, Argentina and Chile.[4]

Synopsis

Nina is a young woman of 20 years old who lives in Asunción in 1947 in the middle of the Paraguayan Civil War. She longs to be a singer, but is forced to work as a maid in a conservative environment after her family escapes. Although, she puts herself at the service of the revolution and frees various political prisoners, including Raúl with whom she will have an affair. However, she must flee the country after becoming pregnant and her lover having abandoned her.[5]

Production

Principal photography was planned to begin in mid-2020, but was not carried out due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.[6] Finally, it was filmed in mid-2021 in Corrientes, Argentina.[7][8]

Release

It premiered on September 19, 2024, in Paraguayan theaters.[9]
