Sharp Peak (Chinese: 蚺蛇尖), or Nam She Tsim, is a hill inside Sai Kung East Country Park,[1] north of Tai Long Wan, in the Sai Kung Peninsula in Hong Kong. It is particularly well known for its well-defined sharp peak, which rises to a height of 468 metres (1,535 ft) above sea level.[1] The hill is reasonably hard for hikers because of its steep rocky terrain and should only be attempted in good weather with correct equipment.
Hiking
[edit]Sharp Peak is known as one of Hong Kong's "Three Sharp Peaks" and is the toughest of the trio.[2] The hike up to Sharp Peak begins from Tai Wan Beach, which is right beside Ham Tin Wan, which can be accessed by hiking or speedboat.[3]
Anyone attempting to hike up Sharp Peak should keep in mind that the route is not an official one, meaning it is very rough. The route to the top is very steep, sandy, and exposed. Hike with caution.[3]
When coming back down Sharp Peak, it can be tough to maintain one's balance because of how much loose rocks, sand, and grit covers the trail. Bring a hiking stick if needed.
That being said, the views from the top are incredible, making this a hike worth doing for those with the relevant experience.[3]
