Tsipras' family roots

[edit]

"His family has its roots in a village near Babaeski in an area of Eastern Thrace which was transferred from Turkey to Greece during the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey."

That statement isn't true, as far as I know. It is probably true about his mother's family only. The article should say that his father is from Epirus while his mother was born in Elfetheroupoli, Macedonia, Greece but her family has origins in Eastern Thrace. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Apostolos Papadimitriou (talkcontribs) 09:49, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Political deviants

[edit]

I assume "deviants" is bad translation: the term is a serious insult, even though 'diverge' and 'deviation' are neutral. It would make sense only if his political rivals were seriously suspected of practicing bestiality or similar. (A trustworthy source would be required.)

'Outvoiced' is also bad English. A rewrite by someone familiar with the subject and fluent in English would be useful. --GwydionM (talk) 09:44, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Opposition Leader

[edit]

I know no parties are contributing ministers to the current government, but as the leader of the largest party not supporting the government in parliamentary confidence, doesn't that make Tsipras the Leader of the Opposition? Therequiembellishere (talk) 21:41, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    • No, the current government is an caretaker government headed by technocrat Panagiotis Pikrammenos, who was appointed directly by the President of Greece. His government have not been tested in a vote of confidence.

Tsipras would eventually become Leader of the Opposition the day Antonis Samaras assumes office. (if he does) Jonneeo (talk) 17:47, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your biography section of personal life has as a main source the URL of a political party.

[edit]

This is in blatant violation of neutrality rules. --89.210.50.114 (talk) 14:37, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Communist

[edit]

Is he still a communist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.199.68.222 (talk) 01:03, 26 January 2015 (UTC) :He's the leader of Syriza which does feature some eurocommunists in it's membership but they are not all communist so it wouldn't be accurate to say he is without some kind of explanation. And IMO if they were communist wouldn't they want to leave the Eurozone which is capitalistic and pro austerity, direct opposite of communism? Popish Plot (talk) 14:30, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tsipras isn't PM yet

[edit]

He must form a government first. He hasn't yet. Therefore, he cannot be listed as Prime Minister.

Mhoppmann (talk) 02:20, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. --C messier (talk) 12:20, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 05:11, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can somebody explained why my addition under section Personal Life about the boy's attendance to a private school was removed? Was ot deemed untrue or irrelevant? If the latter why are his religious affiliations and his marital status not deemed irrelevant to? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SophiaGoulWiki (talkcontribs) 11:55, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's obvious

[edit]

That Antonis Samaras was the Greek Leader of the Opposition both immediately preceding and following Alexis Tsipras, especially following. He was the leader of New Democracy from November 2009 until July 2015, emphasis on his role between Tsipras' election in January 2015 until Samaras' resignation as ND party leader in July. Oh No! It's Faustus37! it is what it is - speak at the tone 08:03, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Antimetaphysicalist

[edit]

antimetaphysicalist (antimetaphysical is the adjective) means a non believer in metaphysics. For example many atheists believe in non rational ideas like non scientifically based theories etc. All antimetaphysicalists are atheists, not all atheists are antimetaphysicalists, some accept expressions of magical thinking, Alexis Tsipras does not! Alexis Tsipras is 100% both atheist and antimetaphysicalist[1]. He has writen many texts and spoken on the subject. He is very open about it, and aware (it is not something that simply happened, he is aware and supports openly his beliefs).

References

Bullshit! Alexis never was analytical and philosophical. Some claim he created atheoposters *, *, *, *, *, * but it's a lie.
