Much editing needed - Wikipedia is not an instruction manual

[edit]

Most of the article from the heading Captivity onwards reads like an instruction manual for keeping these birds as pets and needs to be re-written or removed completely. This is an encyclopedia, after all. Wikipedia is not an instruction manual --172.166.158.162 00:00, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agree - the description and behaviour sections need much expanding as well as a distribution/habitat section to balance the article. cheers, Casliber | talk | contribs 01:15, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moreover - A lot of this is NONSENSE... talks about not putting them near a window, which is false unless its very cold outside... doesnt specify WHY. This needs to be changed.

i disagree. Wikibooks is much less accessible to the average web-user, being less well known. additionally there is a dearth of information regarding fischer's on the web. those keeping these birds as pets, or seeking to do so need an easy to access starting resource; Wikipedia can provide just such a space. As such it can provide vital information to the general public which can save birds lives. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.99.206.184 (talk) 05:57, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I second the above disagreement. Fischer's Lovebirds are widely kept as pets, but there is virtually no information available on the web about their behaivour and safe-keeping. If one googles Fischer's Lovebirds this article appears second on the list. This article contains information that can save the lives of these living creatures and help ensure they are more humanely treated -- if only I had had access to it before my pet bird died of egg binding. I agree it needs additional citations, however. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.100.185.252 (talk) 10:06, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
