Early Life

[edit]

"After high school, Bader went on to wrestle at Arizona State University. While at ASU, Bader was a three-time PAC 10 Champion and two-time D-1 All-American. His 120 wins ranks him 8th on the all-time wins list for ASU. Bader was college teammates with current UFC champion Cain Velasquez and C.B. Dollaway." .. Bader began training in MMA under trainers Todd Lally and Trevor Lally. He began training at Arizona Combat Sports in early 2007 and is currently unbeaten in his MMA career.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

[edit]

Ryan Bader was a contestant on season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter. Bader was the first light heavyweight selected by coach Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, winning his first 3 fights on the show to earn a spot in the finals.

Ryan Bader defeated Vinicius Magalhães at The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale, earning the title of "The Ultimate Fighter" and winning a six-figure UFC contract. He won the fight after catching Magalhães with an overhand right that dropped him and followed up with strikes on the ground to take the win. Ryan Bader returned at UFC Fight Night 18, facing off against Carmelo Marrero and ended up winning the fight by unanimous decision (30–27, 30–27, 30–27). During the match, Bader tore his medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament.

Ryan Bader, along with fellow Ultimate Fighter winner Efrain Escudero, appeared in the video game for the UFC entitled UFC 2009 Undisputed. He and Efrain Escudero were available for download by using a special code obtained by pre-ordering the game from Gamestop.[1] Although, on September 10, 2009, he and Escudero were made available for download on PlayStation Network and Xbox 360 Marketplace.

Bader's next fight was against Eric Schafer on October 24, 2009, at UFC 104. The fight was mainly dominated by Bader utilizing his power, great combinations in his stand up, and control on the ground ending with a unanimous decision victory by the score of (29–26, 30–27 and 30–27) for Bader.[2]

Ryan Bader next faced Keith Jardine on February 21, 2010, at UFC 110 in Australia.[3] Bader finished the fight after rocking Jardine with a quick right jab, then connected with a flying knee to the chest, followed up by a left hook at 2:10 of the third round that knocked Jardine out.

As of March 23, 2010, Ryan Bader, along with Jesse Forbes, C.B. Dollaway, Eric Larkin and Aaron Simpson, left Arizona Combat Sports to train at the Lions Den MMA academy in Scottsdale, Arizona, they have since left Lions Den to now train at their newly opened gym Power MMA And Fitness.[4]

Rumored fight with Jon Jones

[edit]

First off, since when is wikipedia for rumors? Second, and more importantly, there is nothing behind this rumor at all. Its not even a rumor. Its just people on the internet speculating about who he might fight next. And its not even good speculation. Any one who follows MMA knows that UFC almost never puts two rising stars against each other because it would then delay the rise of one of them (because obviously one would lose the fight and lose momentum). It does not belong here.

Dana White said that the winner of Little Nog vs Bader will get Jones during an interview. Bader won it and will be fighting him next. Jones has hinted to it and so has Joe Rogan. So as for your never seeing 2 rsing stars face each other is total BS. You see rising stars face off all the time. Escudero vs Dunham to name one, Griffin vs Edgar or how about even Guida vs Huerta to name another. There are countless amount of "rising star fight". Not to mention that this fight would NO DOUBT either givethem a title shot or put them 1 fight away as said by Dana White. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.206.74.61 (talk) 08:18, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccurate account of Bader's latest fight

[edit]

{{editsemiprotected}} I think in Ryan Bader's latest fight, it is inaccurate to say that he largely controlled the fight until the knockout. Rogen himself said it would be very difficult to score round two, and Bader only barely won round one. From an objective point of view, the fight was pretty even until Bader landed a heavy straight, followed by a flying knee, and ending with a jab to knock Jardine out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.39.43.212 (talk) 06:06, 22 February 2010
