This article is biased. James Grant had a much more even-handed treatment of the man in Money of the Mind; Mr. Grant also discusses his decline as a businessperson in addition to Avery's decline as a political figure. Had I still had a copy of it, I'd be re-writing the whole thing: it's much better than World-War-2-era fight propaganda. My great-grandfather on my father's father's side lived to see the end of that war.

Biased and inaccurate

[edit]

I agree with the post above, this article is biased, insinuating the man was a fascist by its sources. It is also inaccurate: Sewell Avery did not die in 1955, rather the 1960s. His obituaries are easily found. The article should be removed or at the very least flagged. He was a founder of the Museum of Science and Industry among other things. Much more could be said, but I don't have the sources at hand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlaforest (talkcontribs) 10:01, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Post-war Developments

[edit]

Avery's hoarding of cash and lack of expansion of MW into the suburbs after WWII have often been cited as leading to its decline. There also was a highly visible proxy fight to oust him from MW. This era should be discussed here and, even more so, on the MW page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.131.22.111 (talk) 13:10, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

His failure to address MW expansion in the postwar era is briefly covered. Other sources are used as well re: WWII.Parkwells (talk) 16:11, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Grant's book is available for preview on Googlebooks.Parkwells (talk) 16:59, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
