Name of article
[edit]This article is titled 'Troy Davis' but it reads like a mashup between a biography of Troy Davis and an overview of his criminal case. I can't quite figure out what exactly this article is about, because it deals 95% to do with his criminal case, and 5% about his life, which is squished into one small section, yet the article is titled 'Troy Davis,' like a biography. "Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu..."
[edit]Under the heading "Appeals and challenges to conviction and sentence: First execution date", it states "Davis's case gained increasing public exposure and support from organizations and prominent individuals. Nobel Peace Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu urged the courts to agree to hear the evidence..." It seems unnecessary to state that Desmond Tutu is a "Nobel Peace Prize winner". It's unlikely that any reader doesn't know who Tutu is, and his status as a Nobel laureate is irrelevant to this article, since he's not advocating for peace between nations in this case, but rather for clemency for an individual. And if say, Yasser Arafat or Henry Kissenger had been among those "urging the courts to agree to hear the evidence", no one would suggest that their names and titles should be prefaced with "Nobel Peace Prize winner...", despite the fact that both have been awarded the Prize. I suggest that the phrase be removed here. Bricology (talk) 07:52, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
"Smoke and mirrors"
[edit]The quote from the court calling the case for Davis's innocence "smoke and mirrors" seems biased to me. While it may be true that the court stated that, does it belong in the opening of the article? I intend to move it elsewhere in the article further down. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wgm2016 (talk • contribs) 22:22, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
