Occupations.of Palli
[edit]Please expand the occupation of Pallis in the article. I am not sure how can I suggest this change in "X to Y" format as I don't know where it will fit. But since castes are mostly stratified by occupations, it is imperative to add it on this article as to what occupations Palli did. Here is an excerpt from a source by Gutenberg : "The Pallis live in separate streets or quarters distinctively known as the Palli teru or Kudi teru (ryots’ quarter). The bulk of them are labourers, but many now farm their own lands, while others are engaged in trade or in Government service. The occupations of

Spreading false information
[edit]The editors who have taken over this page have taken a very cunning spineless act of trying to spread information to degrade a community, which is very obviously seen. 128.106.137.18 (talk) 14:35, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, true, this should be stopped. The editors are intentionally spreading false information to degrade vanniyar community. There is no reference for "The Vanniyars were historically considered a lower caste" SenPeter (talk) 01:52, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

Request for Edit Regarding Vanniyar Community Classification
[edit]Hello,I would like to request an edit to the Vanniyar community section, specifically regarding the reference to the community being described as a "low caste."This information is inaccurate. Historically, the Vanniyar community has been regarded as Kshatriyas in South India. In south india the only one community having kshatriyan title was Vanniyar community.According to the First Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Commission (Sattanathan commision , 1970), the Vanniyars or Vannia Kula Kshatriyas, as described in that report, are perhaps the largest cultivating caste in Tamil Nadu. Many Vanniyars were prominent landowners and zamindars, holding a respected social status. Referring to the community as "low caste" misrepresents their actual standing.I have reliable sources that support this correction.the vanniyar community are upper caste I am requesting you make correction in vanniyar wikipedia. - "First Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Commission (Sattanathan commision , 1970), the Vanniyars or Vannia Kula Kshatriyas ...." Really? Kshatriyas and backward caste can't be mentioned in same sentence. How could you not cringe while typing this? Either Pallis need to stop claiming that they are Kshatriyas and accept that they belong to the lowest rung of the society or else they should give up the benefits and freebies they reap in the name of "backward caste" 24thHusbandofDraupathi (talk) 04:07, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
