Updates for editors

• Stewards can now make global account blocks cause global autoblocks. This will assist stewards in preventing abuse from users who have been globally blocked. This includes preventing globally blocked temporary accounts from exiting their session or switching browsers to make subsequent edits for 24 hours. Previously, temporary accounts could exit their current session or switch browsers to continue editing. This is an anti-abuse tool improvement for the Temporary Accounts project. You can read more about the progress on key features for temporary accounts. [1]
• Wikis that have the CampaignEvents extension enabled can now use the Collaboration List feature. This list provides a new, easy way for contributors to learn about WikiProjects on their wikis. Thanks to the Campaign team for this work that is part of the 2024/25 annual plan. If you are interested in bringing the CampaignEvents extension to your wiki, you can follow these steps or you can reach out to User:Udehb-WMF for help.
• The text color for red links will be slightly changed later this week to improve their contrast in light mode. [2]
• View all 32 community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week. For example, on multilingual wikis, users can now hide translations from the WhatLinksHere special page.

Updates for technical contributors

• XML data dumps have been temporarily paused whilst a bug is investigated. [3]

• Temporary Accounts have been deployed to six wikis; thanks to the Trust and Safety Product team for this work, you can read about the deployment plans. Beginning next week, Temporary Accounts will also be enabled on seven other projects. WikiProject Notre Dame Invite

Yes, I graduated in 1980 (B.A., Economics). I lived in Lewis Hall. My M.B.A. is from Loyola Chicago in 1982. It was before ND had a MBA program in downtown Chicago, otherwise I would have gone to ND for that also. At the time, they only had a full-time program in Indiana, and although I was accepted, I turned it down so I could move back to my hometown in the W. That's great! I hope you get to visit often. Also, if you're interested, the current Lewis Hall section Hall is severly lacking. I found good sources , but I don't have time to work on it. I know that in the past you've been an active Wikiproject Notre Dame. I am currently revamping the project and I'm looking for other people interested in contributing. We are in dire need, since Notre Dame has so much to be covered, but very few editors on it. There is so much to do, either adding content, or editing, or assessing. WikiProject Notre Dame

Hello Funandtrvl, I just wanted to thank you for your work for the WikiProject Notre Dame. I am currently making an effort to revamp it and improve all articles. I was wondering if you could help out, since any and all help is needed. If you want, you can check out the To Do list for the top priority, or take your own initiative and work on what's needed the most. The top priority articles in bad condition, like the colleges or the grotto, need a lot of help too. Additionally, photos or translation in other languages are also great.

Senior Wikipedians

WikiProject Wikipedians aged 70 and older has been inactive for some time. The following three proposals may help invigorate this project.

1. Change the name of this project to WikiProject Senior Wikipedians.
2. Open membership in this project to users who are at least 60 years of age and have made at least 50 edits in the past year.
3. Open supporting membership in this project to users who are less than 60 years old but have made at least 50 edits in the past year and support the goals of this project.

Suggested goals for this project:

1. To support collaboration and communication among members for the advancement and improvement of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia movement.
2. To encourage older people, retired people, and soon-to-be-retired people to participate in Wikipedia both for the advancement of the encyclopedia and for their own personal enjoyment.
3. To encourage older people to share their experience and expertise for the improvement of Wikipedia.
4. To encourage older users to use their experience and expertise to help younger and less experienced users.
5. To encourage participation in local and regional Wikimedia events.
6. To sponsor Wikipedia meetings and classes at places where older people gather.
7. To advocate for the elimination of ageism and sexism in Wikipedia and the Wikimedia movement.

Request for you to write a Wiki article

Hello Funandtrvl, I was led to you by your latest edit of the "ACP Rail International" edit on August 7, 2024. I would like to request that you write an article for another company called AccesRail. It is a company that provides consumers access to booking plane, train and bus tickets all in website.

I attempted writing it myself, but I am not that experienced and also considered as paid editor since I work for a company that works for AccesRail, which most Wikipedia people seem to frown upon. There are plenty of articles in the Internet about AccesRail but most seem to lack notability, not sure if it is because I am the one presenting it.

We were hoping a Vanguard Editor like you would have a better chance at accomplishing this since it seems to be within your field of interest (Travel) as well.

Elder Wikipedians

WikiProject Elder Wikipedians

My proposal to make extensive changes to WikiProject Wikipedians aged 70 and older was a bust, primarily because many users felt that the term "Senior Wikipedian" implied a higher ranking Wikipedia membership. Therefore, I am making two less ambitious proposals:

Proposal #1. Change the name of "WikiProject Wikipedians aged 70 and older" to "WikiProject Elder Wikipedians".

Proposal #2. Drop the minimum age requirement to 60 years.
