Doklam page
Some content of the border crisis on the page should be removed, as it's backed from Indian media, which greatly violates the objectiveness of content of this page, and wikipedia's policy.

Why did you delete my information?
You deleted the word 'gay' from Liz Carr entry because there was no citation. See 'Personal Life' paragraph. No need for citation since it's all there under Ref no. 11. Suggest you reinstate.

- No, it doesn't belong in the lead of the article. I believe now that you were acting in good faith, but for future reference, it may be helpful to include a clear description in the edit summary of what you are doing so it's clear that the edit is an addition of real information (as opposed to vandalism). Pickleball
"Hello, I'm IronGargoyle. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —the one you made with this edit to Pickleball— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks."
Narrest:
Ouch. That was my first contribution. (I'm new here.) I didn't want to experiment--I wanted to help. Seconds after that, you just erased my changes like they didn't matter. I didn't make grammatical mistakes or write something already present in the history section of the Pickleball article. I don't know why you think it wasn't constructive. I think it was constructive because it added something that was useful to know. Next time that I want to contribute information that the world can use--next time that I take my time to add what I consider to be good, useful content--can I expect it to be immediately erased by someone?
I want to know why you removed my changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Narrest (talk • contribs) 02:39, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- There is no way that adding stuff about the branches of the United States Government could be considered to be a constructive edit on the Pickleball page. The rest was just a rehash of what was already on the page. Sorry, but I'm just not buying it. IronGargoyle (talk) 02:50, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
Okay, then. I'm sorry that I couldn't be useful. I just wanted to help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Narrest (talk • contribs) 02:53, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I've receive an email from you, it say that you remove my new post in tell me my lying eyes are wrong article. I think it's important for the readers that the song has been remade as a cover version. All songs in wikipedia have their cover songs listed. Can you review your decision please? - I didn't send you an e-mail, but if you are talking about this edit, I would suggest reviewing Wikipedia's external links policy. The link you added seems to be largely aimed at promoting a non-notable musician. The link doesn't even point to anything about the cover (which might be acceptable if the link was from an independent, reliable source), but simply the musician's website. Hello, I'm IronGargoyle. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. - I would suggest reviewing Wikipedia's policy on neutral point of view. It is not entirely clear if you were copy-pasting the information from another source (which would be a copyright violation), or something else, but the information was written in a tone to put the city in an unduly positive light. Don't do that please. IronGargoyle (talk) 20:08, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
User:Narbit
- Thank you.
- The issue at hand was this user's insistence on including an extra name in the Infobox at Israeli legislative election, 2015: both Herzog and Livni under Zionist Union, instead of only Herzog. He's been fighting this since March 2015 (see User talk:Narbit#March 2015), and was blocked in June 2015 for doing that. He's periodically reappeared to pick the same fight.
- The proximate cause of his comment on my talk page was simply that I reverted him.
- I'm not sure what to do any more about this, to be honest. StevenJ81 (talk) 19:56, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
- No problem. I don't really think there's anything else to be done. Judging by the history, the editor's behavior will either improve or someone will issue an indefinite block or ban. IronGargoyle (talk) 20:00, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
- Well, Admin User:Number 57 just might. But like me, he's been watching the page for a while, and it might be better if someone not involved in the history did so, if it seems justified. StevenJ81 (talk) 20:05, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

3.3 Self-Published Sources As Sources On Themselves.
3.3 Self-Published Sources As Sources On Themselves. | |
Iron Gargoyle: Please review the following Wikipedia Standard
3.3 Self-published and questionable sources as sources on themselves WP:SELFSOURCE Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, especially in articles about themselves, without the requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as the following criteria are met: The material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim. It does not involve claims about third parties (such as people, organizations, or other entities). It does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject. There is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity. The article is not based primarily on such sources. These requirements also apply to pages from social networking websites such as Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook. I will quote this in my, again, reposting. PDH (talk) 21:43, 1 July 2017 (UTC) |
- That's fine, and I'm glad you read some policy (although you don't seem to have read WP:NOTSOAPBOX), but you don't have any clear sources (self-published or not). IronGargoyle (talk) 00:30, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

That 3.3 editor posted on my talkpage as well, but I moved their "Wikilove" to their talkpage & responded with two posts. Shearonink (talk) 14:28, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Shearonink: Yeah, I saw that. After replying here a second time, I took a closer look at their edits. I now don't think the lack of sourcing or familiarity with the Wikipedia interface is even the main problem here. The material being added by the editor is just a few steps above word salad. I've seen this sort of rambling, paranoid-toned editing before by different editors on different topics. No guidance on Wikipedia is most likely to help. IronGargoyle (talk) 15:00, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

in regards to my edit
I don't see any other entries on that page speculating minimum wages outside of the US. They just state what they are what they will be by laws passed. I really don't think that extra information should be there. I take it you disagree? Won't edit again until we reach agreement. Subzeroicedude (talk) 02:38, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
- It doesn't take up that much room in the article. I would say it's an argument for increasing the coverage of similar issues in other countries, not removing the coverage there. IronGargoyle (talk) 14:44, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
This is weird.

Dear IronGargoyle,

I would like to take the chance and ask you to spare some time and go trough the discussion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Daniel_Hasidim_(3rd_nomination)

- Controversial statements about living people need to be sourced to reliable and independent secondary sources. What you linked to seemed to be a primary source. Even if it wasn't, I think that giving the subject a negative descriptor in the lead would be a bit of undue weight. IronGargoyle (talk) 18:24, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

- @Alex Shih: Yeah, It takes a few minutes for the update bot to do the update. I forget how often it checks. Every 5-10 minutes I think? It has to be sure that the image is protected on Commons first, and that Commons bot runs on a similar cycle. I wouldn't run a manual update unless it's running 30-60 minutes behind and the next update is still sitting in the queue (so it's clear that that the update bot is actually broken). I did a manual update once, and it sucks enough that you really don't want to have to do that unless you absolutely have to. IronGargoyle (talk) 01:17, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

Please explain to me why you keep removing this established Black Fraternity from the list?
Thank you.

- You need independent, reliable sources. The organization's own website does not suffice (nor should it be included at all). IronGargoyle (talk) 03:25, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
DYK prep to queue promotion?
IronGargoyle, the queues are empty, and Prep 4, the next set due to be promoted to queue, was assembled by Alex Shih, who has been doing the lion's share of the promoting. This set has already been pushed back because Alex couldn't promote his own prep set, so if you see this and Prep 4 is still there, please consider promoting it to Queue 4. I'm also going to ping Cas Liber; it would be helpful to have some other admin promote this set. Thanks to whichever of you does the promotion. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:24, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: My 5-article hook is the lead there. That was why I didn't promote it. I was wondering why it got pushed back and figured some special occasion hook got mixed up in the preps. IronGargoyle (talk)

Umm...what?
So, you removed my edit where I corrected A GRAMMATICAL ERROR (I corrected "others'" to "others") and for some reason you said I needed a source? I don't need a source for grammatical errors. You made a mistake. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.12.60.12 (talk) 01:29, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- The message you saw was likely not aimed towards yourself. A different edit was made several days ago from the IP address which you are currently editing from. I reverted that edit. Your grammatical correction was not reverted. IronGargoyle (talk) 02:22, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
Rosie Batty
Hey there. I added a section on the talk page. The bio is about batty's life. There is absolutely no reason reason from a Wiki perspectrive to be including all the information relating to Anderson. Please explain why you reverted my edit with no discussion on the talk page. No citation is needed either.Teemaria (talk) 02:50, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Quick question
Hey IronGargoyle, hope you're well. Could you please email me? My email is on my user page.
I see you've worked on Denzel Curry's Wikipedia and had a question I wanted to discuss. Thanks!
CMCreator900 (talk) 00:28, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- I only made a single vandalism revert on that page. I prefer to keep discussions on-wiki, and I can't see what I would be able to contribute to any discussion about Denzel Curry. IronGargoyle (talk) 13:47, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi
would you please reconsider the deletion of redlink entries in the page List of Australian architects, as a number are clearly notable, some have WP entries, but Like Ken Woolley, were just misspelled. Some effort to fill in the missing information, even creating new articles, would be very helpful.
thanks Garyvines (talk) 14:19, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- List entries for people need to follow the WP:LISTPEOPLE guideline. Certainly if there were other misspellings, you are welcome to fix and add them back as you did for Woolley. IronGargoyle (talk) 15:06, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- Is there anything inhererently wrong with a red link? Isn't it just an article requested or waiting to be written. Amongst those you have deleted are a number of notable architects including an AIA (RAIA) Gold Medallist. What is a dubious EL? Thank you for removing those that are dubious. Do you have any particular expertise in the area of Australian architectural history? Castlemate (talk) 19:01, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- As I mentioned above, I direct you to the WP:LISTPEOPLE guideline. The external links I removed seemed to be either non-independent, promotional, or dead. IronGargoyle (talk) 19:03, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- As the Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal article lists Roy Simpson as its 1997 Gold Medalst I think his red linked name should remain in a list. Nothing in the oft referred WP:LISTPEOPLE suggests other wise. Before I undo that edit you might explain why you removed his name and please explain what a "dubious EL" is before I undo you edit on Thomas Pollard Sampson.
