[edit]

Hello, I'm 117Avenue. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, Smosh, but that you didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 117Avenue (talk) 07:59, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Smosh with this edit. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate may links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.Shadowjams (talk) 00:32, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did at Smosh, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. ZappaOMati 02:35, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Smosh shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Please discuss at Talk:Smosh#Potential edit war. ZappaOMati 02:37, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Someguy1221 (talk) 02:49, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

February 2013

[edit]

Please do not add or change content, as you did to Smosh, without verifying it by citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. 117Avenue (talk) 04:50, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by adding your personal analysis or synthesis into articles, as you did at Smosh, you may be blocked from editing. 117Avenue (talk) 05:33, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. Are you reading these messages? I really don't want to have to escalate this issue, but you continue to re-insert non-free files into pages that cannot have them. I am willing to explain the policy if you do not understand it or have questions. If you continue to ignore my posts and violate our policy I will have to seek alternative solutions, which will not be in your best interest. Werieth (talk) 23:44, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited A Wasted Life, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rock (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I can understand your point. The Princess Bride articles are quite lacking in information on the side characters and can easily use more help there. My feeling though, is the articles seem a continuation of the main article and not about the characters themselves. You should have enough edits now you don't need to go through Articles for Creation (which is mainly intended for new and ip editors). We all have different views on what belongs and what really doesn't. LionMans Account (talk) 04:36, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Pirates of the Caribbean timeline for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Pirates of the Caribbean timeline is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pirates of the Caribbean timeline until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. mabdul 13:39, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As you can see, the article has now been deleted. Given that it was repeatedly rejected at AFC it should already have been clear to you that it was not appropriate to just create it anyway. I would suggest to you that you slow down and maybe try working on the four million articles we already have before trying to create new ones, which you don't seem to have a good grasp of at this time. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Straight into Darkness (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers song) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Woodroar (talk) 15:39, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your RFA

[edit]

It looks like things got a little messed up regarding your RFA page, Josh. Someone nominated the page for deletion, as "not a legitimate RFA", there was some back and forth about it, the deletion discussion was closed "keep", and then for some reason people started "voting" in and "closing" the incomplete RFA.

To focus on what actually matters to you, however:

  1. You didn't do anything wrong in creating the RFA page
  2. Now that you've been here a while longer, you probably know that adminship is something that takes quite a bit more time and experience than you have. If you aren't familiar with the requirements, see WP:NOTNOW.
  3. Since you never added your RFA to the page WP:RFA, it's not "official". If you'd like, I can just delete it for you, so if in the future you try it for real, you don't have a "failed" RFA to try to explain.
  4. I don't think it would be a good idea to try to actually go through with this RFA right now. It would most certainly fail.
  5. You seem to be having some trouble at AFC; please read the responses you're getting carefully, as they have some good advice in them. If you still have questions, politely ask the reviewing editor, or me, and I'll try to explain further.

Let me know if you'd like me to delete the page for you. --Floquenbeam (talk) 17:45, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I nominated the RFA for deletion, and while it might seem surprising to you, I did have your best interests at heart when doing it. Had the RFA gone "live" in WP:RFA, I think it would be extremely likely to be closed per WP:SNOW in a short space of time, and probably give you some unpleasant feedback. You probably don't want this! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:57, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse of the AFC process

[edit]

Please stop reverting editors who decline your AFC. At this point, Articles for creation/Fezzik has officially been declined 3 times. The submissions are currently backlogged and, quite frankly, reverting without making any changes is only making the process worse. It's already been pointed out that you don't need to go through the AFC process any longer but that it may be best to slow down and read our policies. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Woodroar (talk) 23:51, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not resubmit yet again that without any attempt to demonstate notability of Fezzik by citing secondary, reliable sources. LadyofShalott 03:13, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What the Lady says. In addition, stop adding wikilinks to those non-articles, and stop adding names that aren't linked to articles the the Princess Bride template. This has gone on long enough, and one more of those will result in a block. Drmies (talk) 13:40, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
