DYK for Plaza de Roma
[edit]On 14 January 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Plaza de Roma, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that when the Plaza Mayor of Manila (pictured) was renamed Plaza de Roma in 1961, the city of Rome reciprocated by renaming one of its squares "Piazza Manila"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Plaza de Roma. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Orphaned non-free media (File:Globe Handyphone Logo.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Globe Handyphone Logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:01, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Sky Harbour, there is a minor formatting problem with the article, which I have drawn attention to in the DYK review. Can you please look to the problem as there seems to be a block on the writer. I don't think that his absence ought to stop the article from being passed for DYK, but this matter needs to be fixed first.

[edit]per our conversation, pls advice process in request for unblocking of the account. thank you Pinay (talk•email) 03:49, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
- I can advise this: he has to explain to the blocking administrator, in detail, how he has changed, and what he intends to do to not succumb to recidivism. The fact that he is a Filipino and the wiki culture in the Philippines is different compared to the U.S. or wherever he/she (the admin) is from may work in his favor. If he feels so, the blocking admin may also ask me about this case if he/she so desires. Good luck. :) --Sky Harbor (talk) 18:02, 19 June 2013 (UTC)

Iloilo International Airport
[edit]Thank you for coming in between me and the user who insists Passi City belongs in the city-served field! I am unable to revert his edits as I have already been warned that I am close to violating 3RR. My requests to him to settle this dispute on the article talk page, as well as messages on his talk page, have been unanswered. pikdig (talk) 18:17, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, Chris. I have other problems here with the user in question aside from the Iloilo/Passi dispute. Aside from gutting the name change section (because the sources are inaccessible; well, they're still valid even if inaccessible), he also insists on inserting copyrighted text directly lifted from the iloiloairport.com website. I know he's Cabatuanon, so I understand the pride element here or anything of the sort, but it is frustrating to see this as it is. --Sky Harbor (talk) 18:30, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
- Do you think it is possible to request to block him temporarily as he is not, in any way, participating in a proper discussion to resolve the dispute? Also isn't he violating WP:OR based on his edit summaries? pikdig (talk) 18:38, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
- I have left a message on his talk page. While I am an administrator, I cannot block him, as that constitutes a conflict of interest. Feel free to go to WP:AN/I to request for intervention if you'd like, but I don't know how this will go. --Sky Harbor (talk) 18:49, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Tagalog help needed
[edit]Hello Sky Harbor, I'm contacting you because we need some Tagalog translators to help with the deployment of the new VisualEditor on tl.wikipedia. There are help pages, user guides, and description pages that need translating, as well as the interface itself. The translating work is going on over on MediaWiki: Translation Central. I also need help with a personal message for the Tagalog Wikipedians. If you are able to help in any way, either reply here, or head over to TranslationCentral. Thanks for your time, PEarley (WMF) (talk) 18:57, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
- I actually started work on translating the VisualEditor interface around the time of Wikimania in Hong Kong, although I'm taking time off translating it for the time being because I need lexical resources to translate certain terms into Tagalog. In addition, the documentation pages are being translated as well (at Wikipedia:VisualEditor on the Tagalog Wikipedia): I finished translating the keyboard shortcuts into Tagalog earlier last month. :) --Sky Harbor (talk) 01:57, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- SkyHarbor, sorry for not noticing the work you have already done. I very much appreciate your conscientious approach to the interface translation. I work in a library here in Vancouver, I know we have some high quality Taglaog dictionaries. Let me know if you'd like me to look up a term that is giving you trouble (I know the technical ones can be a challenge). Great work with the other translations as well. Are you active on tl.wiki at all? We are considering rolling out VE there on the 24th, and would like to hear from tl.wiki regulars about how they feel about that. - Some of the dictionaries your library might have are available at my university's library, and Wikimedia Philippines has also consciously been collecting linguistic resources for the benefit of members and local Wikipedians. Some of those dictionaries are online, but the ones I have the most faith in (Gabby's Practical English-Filipino Dictionary, which is also available in print, and the dictionaries on Bansa.org) are for some reason currently offline, which is why I've been slower in translating the interface into Tagalog.
- In addition, I have a pending request for the creation of an informal interface for the Tagalog projects (here), which I was hoping would be done prior to the rollout of the VisualEditor. I wonder if it's possible for you to prod the tech team into this request. :) --Sky Harbor (talk) 05:03, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Unfortunately we don't have a copy of Gabby's - I'll take a look at this one by J.B. Santos to see if it covers any modern tech terms. I will talk to James Forrester (in charge of the VE project) directly about that request, and suggest that it should be worked on before a Tagalog rollout. Thanks for letting me know about it, PEarley (WMF) (talk) 20:47, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, and I don't speak much Filipino at all, the post to the cafe was a translation by another en.wiki/tl.wiki editor. My neighbourhood in Vancouver has a large Filipino population, so I should learn more ... PEarley (WMF) (talk) 20:49, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ateneo Debate Society
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Ateneo Debate Society requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay.
