It looks like there is a problem with your talk page archives

Hello Typhoon 2013. Welcome back to Wikipedia! I just started browsing through your talk page archives for fun today and I think I found a problem. In Archive 2, all the discussions up to April 13, 2015 were supposed to come there, but even present discussions (December 2015) are going there. Then your normal talk page is Archive 3. So on your normal talk page, I see at the top a note that is saying that this page is only an archive for previous discussions. I made an edit to move all the discussions dated after April 13, 2015 to Archive 3 when I encountered that problem. So I reverted my edit and decided to talk to you. Could you tell me what's going on? Maybe we could fix the problem. Thanks, 73.223.175.207 (talk) 01:18, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

@73.223.175.207: Hi. I should've fixed this several days ago but just to be aware that I was on holiday, that's the reason why I could not edit in wiki. Yes, my talk page is a mess and thanks for your help, I can handle this. This is because a bot used to archive my talk messages, but now I put a code in my talk pages so no bots would archive them. But I may put him back soon. -- Typhoon2013 05:25, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Okay, I don't understand what is happening. You said that you removed the bot from archiving your talk page. But when I looked in the edit history, I saw that Lowercase sigmabot III archived 2 discussions to Archive 2 of your talk pages. Didn't you remove the code? In order to fix the talk pages I will need you to remove it. Archive 2 is getting too big.
So after some thinking I decided that you need to create a page called User talk:Typhoon2013/Archive3. There we can move all the discussions dated after April 13. (It looks like your normal talk page is the same as the Archive 3. It shouldn't be like that.) Also please delete the page you created called User:Typhoon2013/Archive1 as it is a copy of User talk:Typhoon2013/Archive1 and is not needed. It must have been created by accident. Thanks, 73.223.175.207 (talk) 00:13, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
@73.223.175.207: First of all, why are we talking about this. It is my (or a bot's job) to this not someone else since this is my user and talk page (otherwise, if you or someone is going to leave me a message or award). Second, I can fix this. But thanks for mentioning Archive 2 for me. Yes I will figure something out. -- Typhoon2013 00:38, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
Well, since I had nothing better to on Wikipedia I decided to help you fix that talk page problem. (I like helping people.) It's good the job got mostly done. Only if you could do one last thing and delete User:Typhoon2013/Archive1 (reason given in my above comment) it would be great. Thanks, 73.223.175.207 (talk) 04:36, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry I have to still bother you, but could you quickly put an {{db-u1}} template on User:Typhoon2013/Archive1 so that I can ask an admin like Cyclonebiskit to delete it? Thanks, 73.223.175.207 (talk) 03:29, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

My bad

Pardon the revert, misunderstood your edit summary. Noticed that you meant it to mean 1995 after seeing the edit to that article. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 08:17, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

@Cyclonebiskit: No, no sorry. It was me. I accidentally type 'now' instead of 'not'. I am a fast typer here as well and you may see some mistakes so keep that in mind. :) -- Typhoon2013 09:27, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Wrong image

Hi, I have manually reverted your upload as the image you uploaded for 07F was the wrong storm. According to RSMC Nadi the storm was near 18.4 S 177.7 E at 0500Z on Jan 1. The image you uploaded was centered near 29.7 S 166.4 E which is nowhere near the center described by RSMC Nadi. I have since replaced the image with the one I captured earlier.Damien4794 (talk) 09:03, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

@Damien4794: Sorry. Does that mean I have 06F's image? Or is the image I uploaded is just a low? -- Typhoon2013 10:33, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
@Typhoon2013:That's probably not 06F but some extratropical low in the AOR of Wellington. However, I remember as I was tracking these storms 05F (precursor to Ula) and 06F were very close to each other (within 2 or 3 degrees). It is crucial not to get these storms confused. For my initial image of 06F I had taken TWOs from Nadi (now already deleted from the gwydir archives) and tried to calculate its position using some math and centered it accurately on the storm center. For your part, try not to upload or enhance these images because the storm you captured for 06F might just as well be the precursor to Ula. It is now very difficult to distinguish them (05F and 06F) since the TWOs from last year are not easily accessible, and I have yet to verify that (your 06F image) it is indeed 06F. For 07F … yes that's 07F all right. Good job! But please verify and double check these storms whenever you are uploading images of them so that you do not confuse them.Damien4794 (talk) 09:23, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2015–16 Australian region cyclone season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Darwin. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Australian region

I have found data for all 3 storms, though it's from rather a ragbag of sources. The normal NRL data dump wasn't carrying TRACKFILEs at the time (it's working OK now). Archived bulletins are listed on the talk page.--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 18:44, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

@Keith Edkins: That's alright, and thank you so much! You should know that the BoM is stupid when tracking TLs. -- Typhoon2013 20:02, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

South-West IO

You reported me. I literally went to the page and the information was near 24 hour out of date. It had a notification on it saying that the information was out of date. So, I gathered the information that I could find, at the time, Meteo Frances site was down so I couldnt put down everything. So i put down unknown. If you would care to explain how that is vadalism, id be delighted because I was updating old information from the small amount of information I had, at least it was more current than what was on there. --INFOWeather1 ( Talk ) 1:58, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Your geography is failed

You always use W for the Eastern Hemisphere in Wikipedia. -- Meow 07:25, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

@Meow: Sorry it's a bit confusing as you use W for E. Hem and the other. -- Typhoon2013 07:42, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
I meant the longitude. Why you always use W for a location that is actually E? TC Stan is an example. -- Meow 07:46, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Tropical Lows

Before you ask I RMd both systems due to a lack of evidence that they were Tropical Lows. However, Ive subsquently discovered TCWC Brisbanes Outlook for today and since the system is now in Aus you may add it back in. The Perth System stays out though as we have no evidence that it was anyghing more than a weak low. Regards :).Jason Rees (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2016 (UTC) Jason Rees (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

@Jason Rees: As I said before, I just wanted to discover about BoM's TLs more and why some aren't discovered with identifiers. Let's just wait for Tatiana or our next designated low (which is expected to form by tomorrow from TCWC Perth) and see what happens. If the next low is given the identifier of 11U, then the TL you rm (the Feb 5 low) and the current low should be 09U and 10U. But as of now, they are just lows. -- Typhoon2013 05:41, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

Follow up

To follow up on last weeks conversation both of Tait and Uriah TCRs have been released and both systems formed on the 9th. As a result the Aus Region article has been updated to reflect this.Jason Rees (talk) 23:29, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Cough - 10U=Tait 11U=Winston (Prob) 12U=Unnamed TL. Also can you stop directly citing Ketihs site but instead webcite some of the bulletins and place them on the talk page please.Jason Rees (talk) 12:26, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
@Jason Rees: It's pretty weird, but I saw the sources from Meow and states that Winston re-generated into a TL on the 3rd. Also there was a weak TL from 14-16 Feb. -- Typhoon2013 19:24, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
As I said my money is on it being Winston, since BoM had to issue formal warnings on it for Norfolk Island and it was expected to reintensify in the Aus region before it did. However, we are just guessing here and if you can prove that Perth reported that a weak tropical low existed then I will allow it to be mentioned in the article. Also since Reunion did not issue any warnings on 12U I would suggest removing the basin crossing crap.Jason Rees (talk) 21:13, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
@Jason Rees: Do we add in weak tropical lows? I know we don't put lows in the article, since they are not tropical. I am sorry that I didn't updated or add the sources to the Feb TL ASAP. If I added them early, I would've added the sources, but now I could not find them. Also true, MFR didn't continue tracking 12U, so therefore we don't need to mention the links to the 2015-16 SWio article. - Typhoon2013 02:29, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
We will add in weak tropical lows when we have a source telling us that they were a weak tropical low. Hopefully, for the tropical low that you are on about, @Keith Edkins: will be able to recover the Perth TWO's that talk about this system. Once they have been seen I will look at the wording used and then add it in if needs be.Jason Rees (talk) 21:39, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Perth Tropical Low sources

I have put a section for this system directly onto the monthly archive page Talk:2015–16 Australian region cyclone season/February--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 21:56, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

@Keith Edkins: Thank you so much! @Jason Rees: Here you go! :) Typhoon2013 01:48, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
Thank you as always for providing the sources @Keith Edkins: - I honestly dont know what we would do without you and your archiver which is used by a few members of the international community as well as us. Anyway Typhoon2013, I am in two minds about this system - on one hand I can not pick and choose which tropical lows we monitor/dont monitor and you have provided the evidence needed to call it a tropical low. However, I can not help but notice that they did not expect it to develop at all which makes me wonder if it was assigned a U number at all. For now keep it in the article and I will have a chat with a few contacts at the BoM soon.Jason Rees (talk) 22:13, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Koppu

Hey there. Please don't copy and paste articles in the future to move articles. Wiki works when we can see the edit history, and by copying it, you destroyed the edit history for the article. I fixed it so the current Koppu article has a continuous history from when it was first made, but please refrain from doing this in the future. If you can't move a page, ask an admin, and they'll be able to do it. There are several administrators in the project, including myself, User:Juliancolton, and User:Cyclonebiskit. (and many others who are retired or semi-retired) ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:10, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Re: Naming section format

For starters the addition of the retired names have been a source of a dispute, between me and a couple of the other members of the project. As they feel that the facebook source is not reliable enough for various reasons - while I strongly disagree with this, I feel that there are bigger battles to fight. As a result of this I have agreed to a compromise position, where we can keep the article titles without the (2015) but we can not list them as retired until either the final report or a formal press release from the WMO is issued. As for the format of the naming section I feel that we can do a better job with them without too much hassle. For example do we really need to state the JMA or PAGASAs full name two or three times in the same section? As a result that is why I would prefer to see the retired names alongside the section rather than in their own little section. I also do not see the need to have the italics when per WP:Italics they are only used for emphasise of things.Jason Rees (talk) 23:01, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

I RVd it as I do not see the need for the retirement stuff to have a second paragraph. If you really feel that a second paragraph is required - try splitting it before where it goes "The name Nonoy....".Jason Rees (talk) 18:58, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
Scratch that it kinda looks better with two paragraphs.Jason Rees (talk) 19:02, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
I feel happier yeah... But I need to find some time to play with the overall paragraph. As for the international names there is no need for a second paragraph and it will be debatable from year to year if the PAGASA one needs a second paragraph.Jason Rees (talk) 12:26, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
The format looks ok as it goes back but it just needs a few tweaks to ensure that it is sourced up etc as a result dont go further back just yet.Jason Rees (talk) 23:25, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

I'm not going to be creating an account anytime soon

Hi Typhoon2013. Weeks ago, you sent me an invitation to create an account and join Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical Cyclones. You told me that I had to create an account to join. However, for 2 months I have not been able to think of a good account name since I'm not very creative. Also from now, I will be busy with school so I would not create an account or else it would distract me. I would just occasionally edit with my IP Address. I might create an account around June, probably. Just letting you know. 73.223.175.207 (talk) 10:46, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Well it doesn't matter about the name, like mine, Typhoon2013, is just the only choice I had as I really wanted to join WP. But sure, sure, I get it, school is pretty stupid sometimes, but it is quite one of the priorities. I go to school school as well btw. Just saying, you should contribute more to the real articles. Have a great day! :) Typhoon2013 10:52, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Edit-a-thon in Wellington, May 29

Hi there. I'm organising an edit-a-thon at Te Papa on Sunday May 29th, focussed on adding NZ flora and fauna species to Wikipedia. If so, feel free to add yourself to the Wikipedia:Meetup/Wellington/2016_Edit-a-thon. It would be great to have a good turnout and show Te Papa there's an active local editing community. Seasonal Forecasts

Jump up and down, crack open the champagne or just punch the air - TSR have issued their first forecast for 2016.Jason Rees (talk) 21:55, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Please don't insert redundant information

I removed your addition. If you had read the preceding paragraph in full, you would have noticed that it already said Sandra is the record 11th major hurricane of the season. Also, your use of the word already was wrong.--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:08, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Please follow the RSMC

Clearly you have forgotten that what the JTWC says does not decide whether to remove the infobox, because the consensus is to follow the RSMC. This is not the first time you've had to be reminded of this - please heed this in the future.--Jasper Deng (talk) 02:41, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

I don't know if anyone has told you, but when you update the maps, select the "five day on" map that has the line in the cone. Thanks, United States Man (talk) 15:15, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

@United States Man: Really? I am sure that the ones I uploaded is a "five day" map because there is no difference of what I uploaded and what you uploaded. Check again, I guess. Thanks. -- Typhoon2013 20:13, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
The ones you uploaded do not have the line in the middle of the cone that connects the forecast points. If you look at the revisions on that file, you should see what I am talking about. United States Man (talk) 21:26, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

Winston

Hmm... Could you presnt me the source? From the sources that I read about Winston by BoM, all of them classificated Winston as a Extratropical Cyclone, not a Tropical Low or something else tropical. ABC paulista (talk) 16:05, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

Winston's article state that it dissipated on 3 March because it cites the same sources that the AUS season's article cites. About those sources, all them say that it became "ex-tropical", what can mean 3 things: It became something that would be classifiable as "post-tropical", it degenerated into something non-classifiable or it became extratropical. So the ony source that supports Winston as a official AUS storm is the non-reliable one. ABC paulista (talk) 21:26, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

Dissipation of 01W

You should not be interpreting the JMA weather maps in order to come up with meteorological information, as you are not a professional meteorologist and it is original research at best. For 01W I have looked at a private archive I have of the JMA's WWJP25 text bulletin's and they do not list a tropical depression past 12z on May 27. I also note that Keith has already archived the bulletins for 01W, but could not find any past 12z on May 27. Also you are correct when you say we use the RSMC for the dates, which is the JMA in the WPAC.Jason Rees (talk) 20:23, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

The source you provided did not mention anything about the tropical depression causing those deaths and said that the incidents were on the day after he system made landfall.Jason Rees (talk) 14:41, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

Sources

Have been trying to archive the sources to WebCite but I don't seem to be able to do anything with it at the moment. I can't even access old archived files. Will keep trying. Anybody can archive files while they are still visible on the cumulative index at http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/advisories/indexfull.htm -- Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 17:08, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

All archived now, I think. If you want to archive a bulletin which is listed on http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/advisories/index.htm or http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/advisories/indexfull.htm get its adress on my server (either by opening it or right clicking the link and choosing something like "Copy link location" - exact wording depends on your browser) then put this into http://www.webcitation.org/archive.php along with your email address and use the webcitation link it returns.--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 07:41, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

Status of Land Depressions?

As you might be knowing, since 2015(?) RSMC New Delhi stopped issuing advisories for land depressions over India. However the IMD continues to issue bulletins thrice-a-day for Land Depressions in its Indian Weather Forecast bulletins. The last time I checked, the RSMC is including land depressions in its best track archives. Should we or should we not include such storms in the season articles? I had previously suggested an Other Storms section for land depressions. What are your views about it? Rishabh Tatiraju (talk) 07:19, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

@Tatiraju.rishabh: Hmmm, this is interesting. Imo, I would add these systems in. However depending on these systems, if necessary, I would say to create Land Depression sections like in the 2014 article. Can I please have a site for these systems so I would think about it more? And when was the last time the IMD tracked a 'Land Depression' according to what you are saying? -- Typhoon2013 07:35, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
@Typhoon2013: Previously, IMD assigned a number (eg. LAND 01) to land depressions and issued advisories as part of the INDIAN.pdf file. Nowadays, land depression bulletins are issued as a part of the nationwide weather forecast bulletin and the nationwide weather inference bulletin, and are no longer numbered. This change was made possibly at the start of the 2015 season. Also, the RSMC Best Track data lists all land depressions formed in the past years. However, we also have to consider that IMD is issuing these bulletins for India only, not for other countries. Rishabh Tatiraju (talk) 11:00, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
@Tatiraju.rishabh: Thanks! I have added some information about those LDs in the 2015 article. I will try to make someone to create those tracks, and I might consider if it is alright to create those sections. Let's just see what happens. -- Typhoon2013 11:41, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
@Tatiraju.rishabh and Typhoon2013: Our hands are tied as they are considered to count towards the season totals by the official warning center for the region - the IMD. However, the way I was developing the 2014 article was to include some of the information on the monsoon LPA's within the article in an other systems type section. The format of such a section is still up for debate etc but that may solve some of our problems with which systems to monitor.Jason Rees (talk) 21:01, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

A trap!

I have to inform you that File:Nepartak 2016.jpg steals from a website, and I have requested them to delete. -- Meow 07:23, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

@Meow: Thank you for informing this to me as well. I really thought the image was either created by you or the other users I know. -- Typhoon2013 07:30, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
The quality is too low to me. 😹 -- Meow 07:42, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Aticle for Huricane kilo

Typhoon2013 can you do an aticle for Huricane kilo please?--68.6.143.63 (talk) 20:16, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

@68.6.143.63: In my perspective, there is no point for making an article for Kilo, sorry. -- Typhoon2013 23:21, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @68.6.143.63: And of course, there is no significant reason to create such articles as the mentioned Hurricane didn't impact any country when it was formed last 2015. So most likely, as Typhoon2013 said there is no point of creating such article like that. Hamham31Heke!KushKush! 00:31, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
@Hamham31: But do note that in general, not impacting land is not a valid reason to not have an article; if it's notable for some other reason we still include it, such as Hurricane Celia (2010) (a Category 5 hurricane which never impacted land).--Jasper Deng (talk) 15:17, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: I've seen a lot of storm articles that I believe do not need one like Bavi in 2015 and 01E in 2009. Why create them, even though it never impacted land, caused life, or made a record?? -- Typhoon2013 19:46, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
I would be very careful about saying that Bavi or 01E 2009, never impacted land and would urge you to look again. Hell Bavi has a possible 9 fatalities and helped influence the global weather for the whole of 2015 by helping to develop da El Nino.Jason Rees (talk) 20:22, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
@Jason Rees: Well yeah, Bavi did caused damaged and some casualties, but they are minor though. There are even some storms which never did anything but still maintained its article, even raising it to a GA! It does make sense for our 'significant' storms like Haiyan and Soudelor though. I am NOT saying that I am planning to rm articles (I like storm articles), but I am just curious about this thing. -- Typhoon2013 20:29, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
They maybe minor impacts but in the case of Bavi, it helps gets the PTS Article up to scratch.Jason Rees (talk) 20:48, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
@Jason Rees: I like Wiki! :) -- Typhoon2013 20:50, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Where did you get 60 kt?

Why did you change 45 kt to 60 kt here? The JTWC has lowered it to 35 kt in the best track.--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:58, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng: Sorry I might be just editing too fast, some reason. -- Typhoon2013 07:00, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
Yeah you are and you need to slow down... Jason Rees (talk) 10:22, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Celia's status

Please slow down. 60 knots converts to 70 mph, which is still a tropical storm, and you still need to wait until the official RSMC advisory (which is coming out in a few minutes anyways, but it is WP:CRYSTAL to speculate they'll upgrade it until they do). This is not the first time you have been reminded about this; please do not force me to take it to the administrators' noticeboard (I really would hate to do so).--Jasper Deng (talk) 14:33, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng, I've reverted an edit like this on the Timeline of the 2016 Pacific hurricane season page just about 30 minutes ago. HurricaneGonzalo | Talk | Contribs 18:30, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng: @HurricaneGonzalo: Honestly, I am pretty stressed right now in Wiki due to the Nepartak intensity chaos. I was updating Celia's infobox when somehow my mind thought that 60kt was already a hurricane. I need to remember it's 65kts. -- Typhoon2013 20:32, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Relax. There's no deadline, and you're not the only one editing.—CycloneIsaac (Talk) 20:42, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
It still stands that, for something like the third time, you need to wait for advisories on NHC's website instead of going with what the track file says. And like Isaac said, there's no deadline; if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen (take a break if you're too stressed out).--Jasper Deng (talk) 21:58, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
While your edit to Celia upgrading it to a hurricane was correct in the end, you still need to adhere to what I said: wait for the NHC advisory. No exceptions.--Jasper Deng (talk) 15:18, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: What are you talking about? I did waited for the NHC advisory. -- Typhoon2013 21:01, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
Then what was this? Please, no using track files for NHC or CPAC basins...--Jasper Deng (talk) 21:05, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
@Jasper Deng: Except for that. I am sure that will be the last time I will use the trackfile in the EPac basin. -- Typhoon2013 21:06, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2015 Pacific typhoon season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Guandong province. I'm so sorry for change by cyclone table, i because of next generation in this year 2016. I'm so sorry — Preceding unsigned comment added by Francjñg (talkcontribs) 01:53, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

Please slow down...

...because I cannot otherwise fathom why you thought Darby was 40 knots when both the advisory and track file clearly stated 45.--Jasper Deng (talk) 02:11, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng: Ummm, I think Darby was clearly stated 40kts in its 5th advisory. Also you stated we do not follow the trackfile in this basin-- Typhoon2013 02:43, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
The latter part is besides the point. Not a single advisory said 40 knots; numbers 1-3 said 30, number 4 said 35, number 5 said 45, and number 6 said 55...--Jasper Deng (talk) 02:47, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
Just to be clear here Typhoon2013, Wikipedia is not some sort of game, to try and make sure the seasonal articles are updated as quickly as possible. Jasper and I would rather see you take your time and put down the correct information down, while using the correct sources. I would also like it if you did not interpret sources to say that somethings been absorbed by a front, when the source in question by your own admission does not say that it was absorbed by a front. There is no need to rush these things and if you work with us and not against us, you will become a good editor and may even get a few FA quality articles.Jason Rees (talk) 16:34, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

I'm so happy!

Typhoon2013, you can now upload SNPP images, if Aqua is unavailable to a tropical cyclone. Just go to this site:https://lance.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/imagery/viirs.cgi ! This site is a trouble when Supportstorm uploads 1435Z of Hurricane Alex of 2016 but aqua, and Meow uploads VIIRS of Alex, but in the same time. TY! Reply me back if your'e answered this question. - Nino Marakot ( talk ) 10:38, 15 July 2016 (UTC)

@Nino Marakot: You are welcome! And hey, I am also impressed and amazed with your works so far. I mean, the images you upload are incredible and I wanted to say, keep it up! -- Typhoon2013 10:55, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
@Typhoon2013: Thank you! I really hope that you can stand the way of becoming an administrator of Wikipedia. - Nino Marakot ( talk ) 10:59, 15 July 2016 (UTC)

I learned my lesson

I shut down 55 mph i see in Wikipedia to 30 mph, as i see on JMA weather maps by 06:00. Now i learned that every active storm in JMA (but depression in JTWC) have description on weather maps. Also, you racking up to upload for 03W. TY! - Nino Marakot ( talk ) 09:16, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

@Nino Marakot: JMA is not issuing advisories on 03W, BUT... their weather maps mentioned "MAX WINDS 30 KNOTS NEAR CENTER" which is quite weird. Just letting you know! -- Typhoon2013 09:31, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

I don't want to repeat...

You always use ºW and mbar for the typhoon season. Can’t you stop this? I have been tired of fixing this from you all the time! -- Meow 13:44, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

Did you get it back your Computer? I just gave a idea that you get it back by uploading August 3's TS Ivette image. Just letting you know? I think my mission is accomplished. - Nino Marakot (talk) 12:58, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

@Nino Marakot: Actually I'm using my parents' computer for the images. I really am disappointed lately of the lack of people contributing now, or is it because the WPac basin is so inactive. However I will not be as active as I was last year :( -- Typhoon2013 13:02, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
@Nino Marakot: Also off topic... I heard that Philippines now has Pokemon Go. Do you play it? Lol. -- Typhoon2013 13:05, 7 August 2016 (UTC)
@Typhoon2013: No. I just have Minecraft and NBA 2K Live. I have hobbies on playing NBA in our computer. Did you know Stephen Curry? He's my idol. - Nino Marakot (talk) 15:14, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

JMA TDs

JMA doesn't mention TDs overland in the high seas report. Be careful when indicating a system dissipating. Check the map before editing. -- Meow 08:40, 12 August 2016 (UTC)

@Meow: Oh sorry about that. However actually, in their summary below its weather maps, they do not state that TD. The only systems in there is Conson and the other TD. -- Typhoon2013 08:44, 12 August 2016 (UTC)

Your habit of uploading images

I don’t have enough patience now. Why don’t you upload images with full resolution to Wikimedia Commons? It makes you look so mean. -- Meow 07:02, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

@Meow: I'm not mean :) It's just that at the time I uploaded it, there wasn't any 'full resolution' or image(s) from the gallery. If it is something like a peak intensity for storms, I am impatient and excited to upload it immediately before NASA uploads the 'full resolution' in their site. Hope you understand. -- Typhoon2013 07:08, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Please stop changing Hurricane Hermine's image.

The 2300Z image is a lot clearer and is closer to peak (as shown by the obvious eye). STOP changing it, it's really getting quite annoying to revert you every 5 seconds. Jdcomix (talk) 15:15, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

@Jdcomix: Sorry for not replying you asap. No, please stop changing the image of Hermine. I know that you are a new user here but pleas know the expectations in our WikiProject. NASA's image is much better than the other one, plus the size is much better. -- Typhoon2013 05:51, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Tropical Storm Sarika

May I know why you removed the current storm information section of the cyclone at 2016 PTS? --Anirudh Emani (talk) 17:43, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

@Anirudh Emani: I discussed this situation before, and users agreed not to put it in. But I will start another discussion to clarify it when the season ends. -- Typhoon2013 18:12, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Abdullah Almarri - A.W.S.T. (talk) 08:14, 15 October 2016 (UTC)Hello, nice to meet you, due to Sarika's similarity to Typhoon Nari (Santi)'s track, I added the see also section.

Aere

More sources added on Talk:2016 Pacific typhoon season/October. Indeed, I hadn't noticed that JTWC had resumed bulletins.--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 16:13, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for not replying ASAP, Keith. But thank you so much! Meteo info of Aere now completed! :) -- Typhoon2013 05:13, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

"Environments"

Since you have been making this particular error very repeatedly, I'm going to now say that "in very favorable environments" is wrong. If you look at the definition of an environment, you will see that you can only be in one environment at a time (we speak of the environment of the storm, not an environment). Therefore, it is correct to instead say "in a very favorable environment" instead.--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:06, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:48, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Your reason of “no good image”

Comparing to the crappy image of Hurricane Matthew, isn’t this DNB image of Typhoon Haima very good enough? It is a visible image with very clear details. What is your reason of “no good image”? I also need to remind you that all true-colour night satellite images are fake— it is not possible to capture coloured images at night. -- Meow 08:31, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

@Meow: Well I mean the good thing is that we have an image where the storm is at its peak. Though the sizing of the image imo is not that great. It's more of a square instead of a rectangle. Or maybe it's just me where I'm already used to rectangular storm images. -- Typhoon2013 08:50, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup

WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup

Greetings, all!

We would like to announce the start of the 4th GA Cup, a competition that seeks to encourage the reviewing of Good article nominations! Thus far, there have been three GA Cups, which were successful in reaching our goals of significantly reducing the traditionally long queue at GAN, so we're doing it again. Currently, there are over 400 nominations listed. We hope that we can again make an impact this time.

The 4th GA Cup will begin on November 1, 2016. Four rounds are currently scheduled (which will bring the competition to a close on February 28, 2017), but this may change based on participant numbers. We may take a break in December for the holidays, depending on the results of a poll of our participants taken shortly after the competition begins. The sign-up and submissions process will remain the same, as will the scoring.

Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on November 14, 2016. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now!

If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the judges.

Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase. We apologize for the delay in sending out this message until after the competition has started. Thank you to Krishna Chaitanya Velaga for aiding in getting this message out.

To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletters, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Typhoon2013. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

If I run, can you vote for me?

Aw damn sh*t. I forgot the candidacy, and I will start my campaign-alike on the next elections. If I run, you will vote for me? Just because I'm uploading images so good, no not that. I'm proudly to run the candidacy (sounds of PewDiePie a.k.a. Secret Agent Man of Donald Trump a.k.a. Ronald Rump). Bruh. Trump things, I was half of Clinton and Trump. Where I got that aka names? Search on YouTube as "Who I'm voting for president..." with a U.S flag and a Trump face. - Nino Marakot (Sorry, no cp, only my dads laptop) 13:31, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

@Nino Marakot: Omg weow lol. Yea sure I'll vote, if only I know how to vote. Also I was really angry and disappointed that Trump won. If you are a Trump supporter, we cannot be friends tbh (just kidding, but I hate Trump supporters). :) -- Typhoon2013 06:27, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

Ways to improve 2017 North Indian Ocean cyclone season

Hi, I'm Xyzspaniel. Typhoon2013, thanks for creating 2017 North Indian Ocean cyclone season!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please add more references to reliable sources, as they become available

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. XyzSpaniel Talk Page 10:05, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

@Xyzspaniel: Oh, hi. I created the article (few weeks early) because the season spans all year around. And as usual, also checked from previous times, we create the article early along with the PTS article. But as of now, no sources yet but I'll try add more info in. Thanks and this is just a note. -- Typhoon2013 10:08, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

For the WC2017 the prizes will be as follows (amounts are based in US$ and will be awarded in the form of an online Amazon gift certificate):

  • First place – $200
  • Second & Third place – $50 each
  • Category prizes – $25 per category (which will be limited to FA, FL, FP, GA, and DYK for 2017). Winning a category prize does not require making it to the final round.

Note: Monetary prizes are a one-year experiment for 2017 and may or may not be continued in the future. In order to be eligible to receive any of the prizes above, the competing Wikipedia account must have a valid/active email address.

After two years as a WikiCup judge, Figureskatingfan is stepping down. We thank her for her contributions as a WikiCup judge. We are pleased to announce that our newest judge is two-time WikiCup champion Cwmhiraeth.

The judges for the 2017 WikiCup are Godot13 (talk · contribs · email), Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), and Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email).

Signups are open now and will remain open until 5 February 2017. You can sign up here.

Carefull

Be careful how you tread with regards to that TD, over the next few days, You seem to be edit warring with a guy from Vietnam over if it should be in OS or not. Personally I feel that if we cleaned the impact up then it should belong in OS.Jason Rees (talk) 23:34, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

@Jason Rees: Yeah I know. That is pretty much the problem because that system had similar impacts with the other TD, unless we make another one of course, but to be honest I do not see making another article about it. The other TD had a lot higher impact and story than the recent one. -- Typhoon2013 00:40, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
I do not see the need for either to have an article personally and would urge you to look at a 2016 Vietnam flooding article.Jason Rees (talk) 10:10, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Do you think NHC's Forecasters need to learn maths? --60.246.168.109 (talk) 12:25, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

If its using the code where the computer automatically, that is a average value of all the basin, and you can get the answer is 29.415 ≈ 29.42 [1] (mean sea level, and I know you can get another answer 29.411 by wikipedia conversion, that is not a mean sea level pressure), not a value of Atl or another. --60.246.168.109 (talk) 23:48, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

I want to assume good faith here so what did you mean by "please stop! the real one is in this talk page"? Are you talking about a real article somewhere? A consensus was reached at the RfD discussion to have the redirect point to the article so that should remain in place. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 14:22, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

80 knots is not Category 2

Surely you know better than to put 80 knots as Category 2. --Jasper Deng (talk) 01:14, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng: Very sorry, I should know better. I think it's because we haven't had a Cat2 typhoon for ages. Have a good new year.-- Typhoon2013 01:19, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
By now you should have this virtually second-nature to you, no matter what situation you are in (and in any case, this season did have other storms that were Category 2 at some point). I shouldn't have to remind or correct you.--Jasper Deng (talk) 01:29, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

Grammar in your comment

Not to nit-pick, but "did briefly reached" should be "did briefly reach", and "did recorded it in" should be "did record it in". -ed is not added unless the previous word is a form of "to have" or the subject of the sentence. So I can say "I have reached", but not "I did reached" or "I will reached".

The reason why I'm posting this is that you've made this error very often even when you've seen examples of correct usage.

Sorry if this is annoying you, I just want to help you write clearer comments.--Jasper Deng (talk) 03:43, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

@Jasper Deng: Nah, it's alright. Sometimes if I'm in a rush in discussions, my grammar becomes somehow wrong. But thanks though. :) -- Typhoon2013 10:42, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
