Humxn
[edit]classy. while there is some potential for this redirect's plausibility in the context of self-flanderizing bird app politics (i can feel the bile in my throat just linking that), said potential and context are not mentioned in the target consarn (formerly cogsan) 20:20, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- What in the world are you talking about? As far as I can tell (and what the creation comment seems to back up), this seems to be a drop-in for "human" to make it seem more gender-neutral, I guess. But I've found extremely little evidence of this actually being used (no hits in ngrams, etc), and there's no discussion about this at the destination (or anywhere, unsuprisingly), so Delete. 35.139.154.158 (talk) 04:22, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- twitter gets into what i've seen having been described as "nothingburger debates" on a near hourly basis
- in 2015-2018 (y'know, around the start of donald trump's first presidency), a popular topic was whether or not the left were goo goo ga ga babies who had cardiac heart attacks over instances of the character string "man". unfortunately, this means i can say "that's the joke" consarn (formerly cogsan) 11:18, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- ...this is confusing, but veering on delete I decided to search this up on Brave Search with no quotation marks or anything like that (just a plain ol' search), and I immediately found this blog post that (amongst other paragraphs I struggle to read as a native English speaker) explains that "humxn" is a neologism used by one blog to describe a person with a support animal. Regardless, this neologism is not discussed anywhere on the article for support animal (or anywhere on the internet aside from that one blog, it seems) though.
- Urban Dictionary (which is the quintessential unreliable source) says that it's the gender neutral version of "Human" which lines up with this redirect's target. Consarn mentioned bird app, which would be the perfect source to look for this term in... if Elon didn't force me to make an account to search for stuff. - Retarget to Borg (or, perhaps, specifically to Borg#Assimilation), where the term is mentioned. Tevildo (talk) 20:19, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- should have figured it was star trek. star trek is the touhou of sci-fi. once you get into it, you notice that everything is referencing it... consarn (formerly cogsan) 20:22, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

- Keep, the redirect to 'Human' is accurate as an alternate name. Randy Kryn (talk) 10:30, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- It isn't accurate, since this is a Star Trek topic, and not non-StarTrek human. We don't have an article on humans in Star Trek. -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 12:28, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- maybe in the context of star trek, but we shouldn't have "mortally challenged" as a redirect to demon just because doom eternal said so consarn (formerly cogsan) 12:46, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Perhaps adding the appropriate entry to List of Star Trek aliens#S and redirecting there might be a solution. Tevildo (talk) 13:35, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- really? to refer to the one species that isn't an alien (in our pov, at least)? consarn (formerly cogsan) 13:52, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- at the moment, i'll lean towards deleting. while mentioned in borg and an apparently sort of important piece of nomenclature in star trek (don't quote me, though, i know nothing of star trek beyond spock looking a lot like barry mayfield), it doesn't seem to be elaborated on in any fitting targets, in any level of depth beyond just defining it, or with any serviceable amount of citations consarn (formerly cogsan) 13:57, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think the only significant "Species zyx" from Star Trek is Species 8472, everything else is not important within Star Trek, as they all have regular species names in Star Trek otherwise, and wouldn't use Borg nomenclature outside of the Borg. -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 20:40, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- is this implying that we could use this redirect as a way to out editors as borg? consarn (formerly cogsan) 20:44, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

- Delete or retarget to Borg#Assimilation. Clearly not a likely search term for any real-world reader looking for information about humans. To be honest, I think it's not a likely search term for a reader looking for information about anything, but if someone encounters the phrase elsewhere and wants to know what it means, the Borg article answers that question. —Mx. The Reformer
[edit]- The Reformer → John Calvin (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
This title is not mentioned in Calvin's article, and he was not the only architect of the Reformation. Scholastic accolades lists Reformator as a title of Martin Luther, but this is uncited, either on the "accolades" page or in Luther's article. The only incoming link is clearly intended to be to the Rutherglen Reformer, so my preferred action is to retarget to the newspaper. However, a dab page between Calvin, Luther, and the newspaper is also possible. Tevildo (talk) 19:50, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

- Keep - Google disagrees, it seems lots of people use exactly this initialism. Some use it in all lowercase, some all uppercase, and some with the mixed case of TRaFoZSatSFM, but I'm seeing significantly more hits than I expected when I searched for it. Looks like a useful redirect for navigational aid-- the title is so long people naturally want to shorten it. Howdunnit
[edit]- Howdunnit → Inverted detective story (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
admittedly on the weak side of noms, but whatever. a "whodunit" is a mystery story where the mystery is the criminal. a "howcatchem" (or the longer name used in the target i guess) makes catching the very known criminal the mystery. a "howdunit" is somewhere in between, referring to how the do was did. it can overlap with any amount of whodunit and howcatchem. is death note a howdunit? cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 12:10, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- should also mention that there's a section on howdunits in whodunnit, but it's entirely unsourced and may be erroneously treating them as synonyms cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 12:12, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
WeakKeep - Searching google shows at least one article that directly equates these as synonyms, even though if you just look at the word, it doesn't seem to be. [1] "Then there's the howdunnit, {...} These can be referred to as an inverse detective novel". I agree with cogsan that I wouldn't use this word this way, but there we go... a little scanning on social media shows that a lot of people use "howdunnit" and "howcatchem" interchangeably, which would make this the correct target. I'm not fully confident about this one though. Fieari (talk) 03:21, 17 December 2024 (UTC)- More searching reveals more sources using "howdunnit" as a synonymn for "howcatchem" or the inverted detective story... including a plethora of hits on google scholar. So I'm removing the weak portion of my !vote. This synonym should probably be explicitly added to the article as well, given how many sources pop up. Here's just one as an example: [2], but the google scholar hits go on for pages and pages of results (some of which define it in the paper, others just use the word). If those who don't know what this IP is referring to, I'll mention this quote stated in a past discussion stated by @121.45.246.200 Mothra Leo is a fan name and its simply a rumor, besides if its a rebirth trilogy, the Mothra should be named "MOTHRA", not Leo, otherwise Toho should've changed the names of the trilogy to "Birth of Mothra Leo".
