  • Code letter: F [1]

Grazon is known to have operated from IP numbers of SBC/AT&T, of Verizon, and of California State University at Chico. A list of eighteen of these is found in an info box on his user page. Various named accounts are also listed. His most recently blocked known sockpuppet is Hoofheartedinthewinnercircle (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki).

At the close of the fourth checkuser, Matthew Brown (Morven) noted Blackeagles and Thanklesshank as possibly a socket-puppets of Grazon.

From Special:Contributions/Blackeagles it can be seen that Blackeagles exhibited and continues to exhibit behavior very much like that of Grazon:

The following are not themselves problematic, but are shared traits:

  • pronounced interest in the Christian Left
  • pronounced interest in the Boy Scouts

Also, Grazon identifies himself as a historian (jointly: [26] with [27]) and Blackeagles singles-out historical research as his area of academic interest.

Only 15 edits have been made by Thanklesshank, only seven of them since Matthew Brown (Morven) expressed suspicion, and all seven of those on the same day (28 May, UTC). Two of the seven were part of the edit-war to identify Lenin as a Jew or as atheist ([28], [29]) and by differing categories that were also used by Blackeagles. Two were to relabel Marx from “humanist” to “atheist”. ([30], [31])

  • Blackeagles and Thanklesshank are both at CSU Chico, but so are a few other good users, so it's  Possible with final determination to be made on behavior, I think. Thatcher 10:53, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grazon 4

[edit]

From Special:Contributions/Hoofheartedinthewinnercircle we see that Hoofheartedinthewinnercircle shares the preoccupation of Grazon/Devilmaycares/Burntapple with attacking atheists (especially Brian Flemming) and classical liberals or conservatives, makes similar edit summaries when he bothers to make them.

User talk:Hoofheartedinthewinnercircle is filled with warnings against the same sorts of behaviors against which warning filled User talk:Grazon, User talk:Devilmaycares, User talk:Burntapple, and User talk:132.241.246.111.

I note that User:Morven strongly suggests that User:Hoofheartedinthewinnercircle is User:Horribleperson. Perhaps an additional checkuser is meritted.

I'm afraid Grazon's edits are way too long ago and the data is no longer in the system. I'll be looking into the others. Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 07:58, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you'll go to Grazon's user page then you'll find a box of potentially useful information. And, of course, if you can show that Hoofheartedinthewinnercircle is an alias-of-an-alias of Grazon…. —SlamDiego←T 08:12, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. With that help, highly likely to be Grazon; solely edits from CSU Chico. Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 09:14, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked. Other possibilities:
Pretty sure about the last; the other two are possibles. Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 12:55, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grazon 3

[edit]

From Special:Contributions/Dcker we see that Dcker shares the preoccupation of Grazon/Devilmaycares/Burntapple with attacking atheists, makes similar edit summaries when he bothers to make them, and spuriously identifies unloved individuals as Libertarians (Revilo Oliver by Dcker, Ebenezer Scrooge by 132.241.246.111).

User talk:Dcker is filled with warnings against the same sorts of behaviors against which warning filled User talk:Grazon, User talk:Devilmaycares, User talk:Burntapple, and User talk:132.241.246.111.

Grazon

[edit]
  • Code letter: C and Unlisted: (Sock-puppet to dilute policy violations to above community ban)

I started a RFC recently to find out if I alone in seeing a disruptive pattern to a user's edits. Well, I received a fair amount of support from well respected users. Devilmaycares (talk · contribs) has already been blocked from editing once and has been warned with nearly every template out there.

In the course of the RFC I was made aware of another editors suspicions that this user was a sock puppet of User:Grazon. With less then 300 edits under his belt he did seem to have a strange amount of knowledge of the ins/outs of wikipedia. So I investigated further.

My first step was to compare the edit histories of both accounts. One of the first things I noticed was that these two accounts never edited the same articles, except for one exception. Seeing as both accounts edited similar types of articles that seemed very odd.

The next thing I looked at was what days of the week did they edit most often in the month of October. Well, they both seemed to favor the end of the week, but that might not mean anything.

The second to last thing I checked took a bit of extra effort. I found days where both accounts had edited on the same day and I noticed something interesting: A clear pattern of switching between accounts can be seen. If these were different people then it would stand to reason that the "editing sessions" would overlap, or be in very different time periods, right? The edit histories showed a something very suspicious. The account would switch off editing and often with 2-5 min in between. Not just once... a ton of times. See my evidence if you wish to confirm it for yourself.

Now, with renewed confidence I checked one last thing... block logs. I noticed something interesting... when Grazon was blocked Devilmaycares would suddenly start editing. This has happened three times. (Compare the Grazon's block log to Devil's contributions for those days.)
