Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Firearms
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Firearms. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Firearms|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Firearms. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Draftified once already, then moved back to main space a few days ago by article creator. A WP:BEFORE search turns up no coverage of this weapon in reliable sources, just blogs, social media and fandom, and I can find no reliable means to verify that it ever existed. A merge to Chropei would be an adequate alternative to deletion, if we could find just one reliable source verifying that it's not a hoax. Wikishovel (talk) 16:47, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

- Comment: If I had to guess, I'd say the image originates from this ancient looking webpage from the Athens War Museum, as that's what the Youtube video credits. The image was presumably next to the text "Α-Τ Πυροβόλο 1943 (Μ. Βρετανία)", but the original may well have been lost to time. Quite how the YouTube content creator got the romanised name Makrykano, I wont speculate. My point is, that I don't think its a total hoax - but I'm not holding out for finding a great source either. -- D'n'B-📞 -- 18:04, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

- Keep - useful reference page for the calibre with the relevant standards and load data referenced - limited use outside of a specialist community but still valuable data to retain as the ammo and rifles remain in use. 147.161.216.202 (talk) 20:21, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

- Keep We should not delete on the absence of citations in one version of the article, but as to whether such sources exist or not. Although clearly a dead-end in firearms design, the Spencer rifle and its cartridge was historically important (arguably of course, given that this is a firearms topic) as the first self-contained metallic cartridge for a repeating rifle. Even with such argument as to whether the Henry or the Spencer came first, and what the definition of 'first' is as to workability, this was clearly an important weapon and thousands of them were used in the Civil War. - like a lot of these you have tagged [Beland] - it's a reference article taken from the manufacturer published data - often with these there is no other reference material - taking them off Wikipedia will just make this info even harder to find for enthusiasts and researchers 147.161.216.202 (talk) 20:25, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
