Usage notes

Its transitive forms are possible only in certain phrases (see those with alussza among the Expressions below) as well as with certain verbal prefixes: kialussza magát (‘get enough sleep’), elalussza … (‘have some body part gone to sleep’, i.e. numb from the wrong position), végigalussza …, átalussza … (‘sleep through the night’, ‘sleep through the new year’) etc..

The archaic passive conjugation had the same -(t)at/-(t)et suffix as the causative, followed by -ik in the 3rd-person singular (and the concomitant changes in conditional and subjunctive mostly in the 1st- and 3rd-person singular like with other traditional -ik verbs).
