Hey, the Wikidata property P2182 which is used by Modèle:Ministeri on French Wikipedia has been archived on Wikidata and it has been replaced by P12910. The IDs have changed from numbers to strings, and it looks like many articles here have those old numbers entered as template parameters. I would like to suggest that you change the template to fetch the IDs from P12910 and to skip the old number if an article has it. –Samoasambia (discuter) 23 juillet 2024 à 21:31 (CEST)
Translation of paid article
[modifier le code]I wrote an article for pay on the English Wikipedia. It was submitted in "Draft" form via their "Articles for Creation" process, with COI declared, and published by an independent editor.
My client has offered to supply a professional translation of my work and asked me to publish it here. May I do so, and is there a procedure which I need to follow? Pigsonthewing (discuter) 1 octobre 2024 à 20:10 (CEST)
- Hello @Pigsonthewing and thanks for reaching out. First of all, you need to state in your userpage who your client is and that you have been paid to write an article for them. Can you also provide a link to the article on the English Wiki? It is a good practice that your client used professional translator. However, the article must meet the treshold of notability (and criteria are usually more restrictive here on the French wiki than on EN). Then, the style also needs to be encyclopedic and not hagiographic or promotional (especially when dealing with a living person, a company or any entity). So I think it would be good practice to publish this translation in your draft page (Utilisateur:Pigsonthewing/Brouillon). Skimel (discuter) 2 octobre 2024 à 01:16 (CEST)
- Thank you. If I publish it as a draft, what do I do next? Pigsonthewing (discuter) 2 octobre 2024 à 01:42 (CEST)
- +100 to what Skimel said.
- Pigsonthewing, the difference with en.wp is that no one will publish your draft on your behalf. Some users might give you advice (here) about your work¹, but none of that advice will be a formal approval of the work or a publication. You are free to publish the article anytime.
- If the quality of the translation (or the tone) is not up to what NPOV asks for, reviewers will tell you. But again it will be up to fix it, and then up to you again you to decide on when to publish the article in the main space. Post-publication, the article will have its own life.
- Side note: I question myself on the copyright around the translation work. How will it be credited?
- ¹ Please note that many reviewers will not accept to have a conversation in English about an article written in French. The goal of the review is to have a conversation on how to improve the article. Please consider this as you don't speak French. And before you ask: I don't review articles created by paid-editors.

- Noted, thank you. Pigsonthewing (discuter) 10 octobre 2024 à 17:14 (CEST)

The article is now at Utilisateur:Pigsonthewing/Brouillon. I would be grateful for advice as to whether any changes are needed, before it is published. Should the names of artists which have articles in English, but not French, be red-linked? Pigsonthewing (discuter) 10 octobre 2024 à 17:14 (CEST)
- Hi @Pigsonthewing, the first sentence of the message written by @Skimel was to ask you to write your COI on your user page, like described on Wikipédia:Contributions rémunérées. I don't see such thing, did I miss it? Thanks, -Framawiki ✉ 11 octobre 2024 à 13:52 (CEST)
- No; apologies, I forgot. I have done so now. Pigsonthewing (discuter) 11 octobre 2024 à 14:28 (CEST)
- I added the standard template for a draft at the top of your sandbow. It gives you the option to ask for a proofreading (Demander une relecture) or to publish the article (Publier mon brouillon). My engagement stop there, good luck! Trizek bla 14 octobre 2024 à 20:56 (CEST)
Special:Export page and Wikidata QID?
[modifier le code]Apologies for posting in English
Hello everyone, the Wikidata for Wikimedia projects team is investigating the benefit of adding a new <tag> for a Wikidata item QID into the XML file output from the Special:Export function.
Have you used this function before? If yes, we would like to hear from you.
- Would adding a new <tag> for a linked Wikidata item (e.g. <wikidataid>) aid you?
- What types of pages did you export? (article, template, talk etc.)
- What did you do with the exported content?
Please leave your comments or questions in your preferred language as a reply to this message, thank you. -Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (discuter) 27 novembre 2024 à 17:01 (CET)
- Hi Danny
- You should post it at Discussion Projet:Wikidata, even in English.

Shakespeare edit-a-thon article in French
[modifier le code]Hi, sorry for writing in English! Recently we had a Shakespeare-related edit-a-thon in Hungary, and one of the students wrote an article about James Hirsh in French. Can you please check if the subject is notable enough for your project? You can find the article here. Thank you in advance! Bencemac (discuter) 27 décembre 2024 à 18:44 (CET)
- Hello Bencemac.
- On wp.fr, a topic requires at least two nationally known independent secondary sources with at least two years between publication (see Wikipédia:Notoriété des personnes, and WP:NSU).
- I'm not going to check in detail whether James Hirsh's article qualifies here, but after a short search on Google, it doesn't.
- If the only sources are like his biography on the GSU site, that's certainly not enough (it's not an independent source since he works there).
- He could have written dozens of books, if no independent secondary source has bothered to talk about him, wp.fr shouldn't either.
- Léa Lamielle-Puyraimond should ask for help at the Wikipédia:Forum des nouveaux for a better answer.
- Anyway, in its current state, her draft is not ready to be published here, partly because of its layout. See Aide:Comment rédiger un bon article to learn how to write a good article.
