Found these issues when I generated the PDF myself

Are these really issues? I compiled the PDF myself, and none of these things messes something up.

Anyway, I'll merge it regardless, since I prefer the header style myself.

Interestingly this seems to be a regression (assuming it's unintentional) in pandoc. This is apparently a intentional change in pandoc: jgm/pandoc#3512 jgm/pandoc@33662bf jgm/pandoc#4808

I ran a much older version of pandoc (v 1.*) when I worked on the book scripts, and it had no issue with missing spaces before section titles. After installing the latest version of pandoc (v 2.3.1) I can see the behavior mentioned here. I also agree the spaced version is much nicer, so I like the changes. Also good to make the source material more uniform.
