The core language specification deliberately does not prefer any particular style, so I'm not sure we want to change this. @jensmaurer?

@jensmaurer Leave the core wording alone?

We have 131 matches of \w\+\w in the draft (although some are in $math$, so they don't count), and many more for * and /.

While I prefer spaces around operators, it seems like a waste of time to peck away at a handful of these now. There are too many to fix and establish a checkable style now.

I'm lukewarm ok with the changes here; even though we operate under the "core wording shows different styles" hallucination, there are still styles that are sufficiently atrocious to care for a fix.

Those missing spaces certainly are not in the "atrocious" corner, and it's a bit concerning that the extra spaces appear to tear the expression apart more than what seems good. For the first change, the * applies to the result of the +, but the spaces make that slightly harder to see, in my view.
