Currently, the tabbed container looks good when in horizontal mode.
When the tab placement is changed to left or right, the tabs are weirdly formatted (too much padding on the left/right, the selection indicator is on the wrong side of the text.

Move the selection indicator to the other side of the tab text (left for left position, right for right position) and make the padding smaller.
