+1 I would also like to have an option to exclude certain branches from suggesting to "Compare & Pull request". We have "environment branches" and it is fairly annoying that everythime we merge to a new environment it suggests to create a pull request for that |

I am pushing a few old branches from SVN when migrating to GitHub for historical reasons, but GitHub shows this option to compare and pull request - which must not happen in my case! unable to disable or set this rule. Voting (+1) to do better on this feature. |

In my use-case, I have a "documentation" branch intended just for syncing for GitHub pages. This will also never be merged to the main branch (it always goes the other way). So in fact I would want to disable the possibility of accidentally merging it into main. |
