Collaborative work between Mendelssohn and Moscheles. Composed (if hastily) for 2 pianos and orchestra for a concert with Mendelssohn, Moscheles (and orchestra), published in reduction for 2 pianos. Felix composed the first two variations, Moscheles the third and fourth, and the two collaborated on the finale.
Opus number, however, is from Moscheles' catalogue of works according to Todd (2003, pages 274-5 for a summary of all this).
