Stropha Ambrosiana

Stropha Ambrosiana est series quattuor versuum ex duobus dimetris iambicis (acatalecticis) compositorum. Haec stropha et hic versus ab Ambrosio ad hymnos conscribendos usitati sunt. Versus ergo Ambrosianus et talis stropha locum principialem Latinae hymnographiae Christianae obtinent et a multis successoribus suscepti sunt.

Hymnorum Latinorum hi quinque certe ab Ambrosio facti sunt, quorum nonnulli ad liturgiam horarum destituti sunt:

  • Aeterne rerum conditor (ad galli cantum)
  • Iam surgit hora tertia (ad horam tertiam)
  • Deus creator omnium (ad completorium)
  • Intende qui regis Israel
  • Grates tibi, Iesu, novas
