hi have download firmata but d13 doesn't work so what's the problem

would firmata still be a good choice if i were using this block but my program on the edison was nodejs and i wanted to send complex data to the arduino? For example, if i wanted to control a strip of ws2812 leds and wanted the edison to send a control message to the arduino. the arduino would read the control message and perform the appropriate function.

Can this block communicate with other blocks (9dof) or does it require the edison chip to be connected?
