Maarten Zeinstra in the cultural-partners list points this very useful
tool, for calculating the status of copyright of a work.
http://outofcopyright.eu/
It think it can be very valuable for Wikisources as well.

To let people know that WikiEditor toolbar now includes a dropin Proofread section. I
know that we are going to need to do some work on the gadget that toggles the headers to
be open by default, however, it is great to have some progress. :-)

Some years back I scanned a Swedish-Latin dictionary (1875), 960 pages
in 2 volumes, with the Swedish headwords printed in blackletter and the
Latin translations in plain Roman letters, http://runeberg.org/swelatin/
Johan Winge decided to OCR and proofread it, and for this purpose he
trained Tesseract, the free software OCR engine, to read blackletter.
He also developed a program called Terese for proofreading the OCR text,
http://terese.sourceforge.net/
It looks very promising from the description, but I haven't
tried it yet. The screenshots in the documentation shows pages
from the Swedish-Latin dictionary.

*Call for referendum*: The Wikimedia Foundation, at the direction of
the Board of Trustees, will be holding a vote to determine whether
members of the community support the creation and usage of an opt-in
personal image filter, which would allow readers to voluntarily screen
particular types of images strictly for their own account.
Further details and educational materials will be available shortly.
The referendum is scheduled for 12-27 August, 2011, and will be
conducted on servers hosted by a neutral third party. Referendum
details, officials, voting requirements, and supporting materials will
be posted at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image_filter_referendum
shortly.
