Ulmus ialah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam famili Ulmaceae merangkumi beberapa pokok meluruh di bawah nama umum elm. Genus mula muncul pada zaman Miosen di tengah benua Asia sekitar 20 juta tahun dahulu.

Pokok-pokok genus ini bertaburan asal di hampir serata Hemisfera Barat termasuk kawasan beriklim sederhana Amerika Utara dan Eurasia sampai sejauh kawasan khatulistiwa.

Elm boleh tumbuh tinggi dan sering digunakan sebagai tanaman hiasan. Namun, elma mudah terkena serangan hama, terutama dari cendawan Ophiostoma, yang disebarkan oleh kumbang. Genus ini adalah tumbuhan hermafrodit dengan bunga sempurna yang dapat diserbuki angin. Ia dapat menahan keasidan tanah yang luas tetapi memerlukan saliran yang baik.
