It is a peaceful favela without open drug trafficking or gun fights. The main problems lay in the infrastructure - electricity, the sewer system, waste - because Rio das Pedras, like most of the favelas, is not an official district and therefore has been ignored by the city planning for decades. However, the inhabitants help themselves, for example by installing electrical cords from the street to their households. LUZ ("light") tells the stories of Gibson and Nené, who live in Rio das Pedras with their families. Despite the difficult circumstances they try to live normal lives and to achieve their goals.
