Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome, Grind24 !
Welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia, Grind24, and thank you for your changes. I am George.Edward.C, an active contributor here. You may want to look at our help pages:

If you can't think of what to add, check out our most wanted articles. Remember, don't be afraid to edit pages. If something's wrong, fix it! This page is good for finding things that need fixing.

Whenever you are leaving a message on someone's talk page, be sure to sign with ~~~~ !

You may also want to enable these gadgets which will make certain things easier.

  • Twinkle: Reporting vandalism, requesting deletion and warning vandals are now just a click away.
  • HotCat: Quickly add categories without having to edit the code of the page. You may want to look at uncategorized pages to see pages that may need grouping (categorizing).

Finally, we have an IRC channel were you can chat with other wikipedians in real time. For more information see this page. If you urgently need help (example: your account has been hacked), notify an admin by typing !admin@simplepedia followed by your message.

If you have any questions or worries, feel free to message me by clicking this link or by emailing me here. You can also go here too! If you respond here, make sure someone responds by using the {{helpme}} templates

Have fun and enjoy your time on Wikipedia! George Edward CTalkContributions 13:20, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Small note also, I recommend using the gadget "Twinkle". You can enable it in your preferences! It will allow you to quickly revert vandalism, welcome users, warn users, report users and request deletion! Warning users will let other users quickly see a user's history of vandalism. Regards, George Edward CTalkContributions 13:20, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks George.Edward.C I go activated it now.Regards --Grind24talk ??Contribs 13:37, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

After you revert vandalism....

...you will see the user's talk page open in a pop-up window. Make sure you "warn" the user by pressing the "warn" button under the TW menu, starting with levels 1 or 2 (depending on how lax you want to be), going up to 3, then 4. If they vandalize again after a "final warning" (4) then you can send them another final warning, but please make sure to press "VIP" under the TW menu. If you know and just forgot to, OK. If you didn't know, then you do now :) Krett12 (talk) 17:42, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Krett12: Ah Yes! i just forgot. Thanks for your note. Are you planning to join SWMT and GS Eyes ? to fight against vandalism on cross-wiki :) .--Grind24 (talk) 17:59, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Hi, guys. Just a couple of comments. A user talk page doesn't always open after a revert: it depends on which revert function you use. Also, the "warn" link isn't always under "TW": that depends on which skin you use. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:12, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Grind24: I joined the first, but I'm not a global sysop, so I'm not gonna join the second. @Auntof6: But most people use vector so that's how I give instructions. Krett12 (talk) 20:25, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Are you looking for something to do?

I noticed that you asked another user if he/she needed help with something. If you're interested in that kind of cleanup task, you might like to look at the Check Wikipedia reports. There are often things flagged there that need to be fixed or cleaned up. Follow the links there to see the lists of things that might need fixing. (The one for missing reference lists is here, but some of those might have been fixed already.) Just be aware that not all of the things there really need to be fixed: if you're not sure, feel free to ask.

If you fix any of the things you find there, please mark them as done so that the next person who looks at them won't have to check them. Each one can be individually marked as done, or if you fix all of the items of one type, you can use the "Set all articles as done!" link.

Let me know if you have any questions. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:22, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

\o/ Thanks for your very much. I will take care of them. :D --Grind24 (talk) 20:26, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I see you're working on some of these -- thanks! For your reference, here is the correct order of some things that go at the end of an article (all are optional, except you usually need categories):
  • Related pages section
  • References/notes/sources section(s)
  • Other websites section (sister project tags are usually included at the top of this section, but not always -- let me know if you'd like the detail on that)
  • End-of-article navboxes
  • Defaultsort
  • Categories (no blank lines between defaultsort and categories) -- there should always be categories unless all needed ones are added by templates.
  • Stub template (two blank lines before this most of the time)
Hope that helps! --Auntof6 (talk) 10:40, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I thought nothing should be place after categories. Thanks for the informations and especially for the order. It will be very useful for me. :) .--Grind24 (talk) 11:24, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think they used to put the stub templates before the defaultsort and categories, but now they want them after. You'll probably see a lot of them before -- you don't have to change an article just to move them, but you can move them if you want when you're making other changes. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:13, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks .--Grind24 (talk) 18:44, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Adding reference sections

Did you realize you added reference sections to some articles that don't have any references? I didn't check all the articles you changed, but two examples are DJ Jazzy Jeff and Matt Bevin. Please check all the ones you changed to be sure you added ref sections only where there were actually references. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:57, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oops  Done .--Grind24 (talk) 23:01, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User warnings

Hi Grind24, when warning a problem user, simply move calmly through the four warning steps, in most cases they will stop. Most admins will not take action if the warnings have not been given. There are exceptions of course, especially where the vandalism can be seen as abusive, or cyberbullying, and quicker and sterner action maybe needed. --Peterdownunder (talk) 12:40, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly I skip the steps to scare the user :) , it works sometimes. But son I will follow steps 1 to 4. Thanks for your note.--Grind24 (talk) 19:40, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I work on the theory that it takes at least two notices to catch their attention, the third one says "yes we are actually watching you" and number four says "we really will do it..." --Peterdownunder (talk) 21:39, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well after 4 warnings steps, In case of persistent vandalism what should I Do? makes a report or add another warning (level 4) template?.--Grind24 (talk) 05:33, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You make a report. But, remember to leave warnings on users' talkpages when reverting vandalism. //nepaxt 19:47, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Nepaxt .--Grind24 (talk) 19:52, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
