Sumter County is a county in the U.S. state of Alabama.[1] As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,345.[2] The county seat is Livingston.[3] The name is in honor of General Thomas Sumter of South Carolina.[1]

Sumter County was founded on December 18, 1832.
