Set a default classification level

Default classification levels can be set for individual spaces in Confluence and projects in Jira, or for all spaces in Confluence. What is a default classification level?

Organization-wide default within Confluence

Who can do this?
Role: Organization admin
Atlassian Cloud: Atlassian Guard Premium
Atlassian Government Cloud: Not available

A default classification level can be implemented across all your Confluence apps. This default setting will automatically apply to any unclassified content within Confluence.

To apply this:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Security > Data classification

  3. Select More actions (•••) > Manage settings

  4. Choose the classification level

  5. Select Update

Role: Confluence space admin, Jira project admin
Atlassian Cloud: Atlassian Guard Premium
Atlassian Government Cloud: Not available

Setting a default classification level in an app depends on the particular app you are using.
