Chumley's arachnoid drones

- Chumley's arachnoid drones are drones from the cartoon portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Among Lord Chumley's many over-the-top tools to utilize during his hunts, there are (at least) two powerful drones resembling arachnids: a scorpion and a spider. These arachnoid drones are controlled by Chumley and his servant Dinsmore from a console in their hideout, and are even equipped with screens from which Chumley can taunt his prey. They're about the size of Transformers, which could mean that Chumley had them built specifically for his hunt on Optimus Prime.

The Transformers cartoon
Displaying Chumley on its screen, the scorpion drone confronted Optimus Prime about midway to reaching Chumley and the Autobots he had captured as bait. The scorpion drone at first had the upper hand since Optimus Prime was exhausted from his earlier trials and the scorpion was impervious to the ion blaster's fire. It knocked over Prime and tried stinging him, but Optimus managed to break one of its claws and push it off. Astrotrain then reached the battle scene and used the scorpion as a distraction to shoot down the Autobot leader, to the annoyance of Chumley who felt cheated out of his victory. The scorpion turned against Astrotrain, knocking him out and dragging his body (and presumably that of Blitzwing) to Chumley's castle.
To Chumley's surprise, Optimus was not defeated yet. Making his way to Chumley's castle, Optimus ended up in the spider drone's web. Through the spider's screen, Chumley boasted about his soon-victory. Struggling, Optimus broke off various of the spider drone's legs, which did little to stop it. As the spider drone prepared to bite the Autobot leader and inject him with "poison" that would make him explode, Optimus grabbed one of the undamaged legs and had the spider bite itself instead. He got out of the way just before it exploded. Prime Target
