The Autobots seek shelter in a mausoleum, only to encounter a resurrected Optimus Prime!

Contents

Synopsis

Having only just escaped a Decepticon assault led by Galvatron, Rodimus Prime, Arcee, Ultra Magnus, and Spike shelter in an ancient Autobot Mausoleum. As they're pinned down by the Decepticon attack, help comes from an unexpected quarter: the resurrected Optimus Prime! Rodimus returns the Matrix of Leadership to Optimus and reverts to Hot Rod, at which point Optimus turns on them and leaves them stranded on the mausoleum. Returning to Cybertron, Optimus takes the bulk of the Autobot force to stage a full-scale attack on a Quintesson base.

As he faces down against Hot Rod, Optimus flashbacks to his reanimation at the hands of the Quintessons and is motivated to give the Matrix back to Hod Rod. Ordering the other Autobots to retreat, Optimus guides his ship into the heart of the Quintesson trap, and the Autobots must once again mourn their leader.

Notes

  • This is another "dungeon crawl" campaign.
  • Not one, not two, but three Optimus Prime cards are available for the taking in this episode. The tier 1 prize is an epic rarity (R6) Optimus, while lower tiers get a R5 evolve Optimus which uses the same art as the R6 card. Even lower tiers get the standard R4 Elite Optimus that you can get through the space bridge already. The R5 Optimus card is also available as a points reward and through the episode space bridge.
  • Unlike previous dungeon crawl campaigns, there are no snippets of plot for each of the three campaigns, so we may never know why we have to fight Breakdown, Dirge and Thrust.
  • The Autobots might have clued themselves in to the fact that something was up earlier, if they'd noticed that Optimus Prime's license plate now reads "ZOM813".
