- Darkwings is a Decepticon from the Super-God Masterforce portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Darkwings (ダークウィングス Dākuwingusu) is the combined vehicle form of Hydra and Buster. Darkwings' maximum speed can reach Mach 30. Darkwings can perform "Chōkon Wing Thunder Hurricane" by using Chōkon Power. After Hydra and Buster become robotic beings, Darkwings is able to perform "Mach X Flight." Hydra and Buster accidentally discovered the combined form during a brawl.[1]

Hydra and Buster used this form for the first time when they battled the Pretenders and Headmaster Juniors. They defeated them but retreated when reinforcements arrived. They blamed Blood who was not very happy about the Godmaster brothers being in the army. Super Warriors - The Godmaster Brothers
After some time Hydra and Buster gave up their humanity to become full robotic beings with Devil Z's help to defeat God Ginrai. After Hydra and Buster were tossed aside by Devil Z for their failure, they were forced to battle Lightfoot, Ranger and Road King, but they were outmatched and used Darkwings to retreat.
After Devil Z's death the Godmasters and Headmasters separated from their Transtectors. Hydra and Buster, having been roboticized, remained merged with theirs. They retreated to space with the living Transectors of Overlord, Cancer, Wilder, Bullhorn, and Clouder. A Battle... and Then...
Wars comics

- Released in the fourth year of Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers line under the Super-God Masterforce banner, Darkwings is formed by combining the Godmaster Decepticons Hydra and Buster, redecoes of the Hasbro-release Decepticons Darkwing and Dreadwind (respectively). Once their Godmaster engines are plugged in, the two jets can be combined to form a single "superjet."

- Hydra and Buster were both made available in a special multi-pack as well. Both toys are identical to their individual releases.

- The Hasbro-deco versions of these molds were made available in Japan via mail-order: each one was sold individually, costing 1980 yen and four Robot Points.
- It is not known if the toys came in a standard Hasbro Darkwing/Dreadwind boxes with Japanese legal info on added-on stickers, but the odds are really good they were.
