The Dimensional Interface Assembly is Cybertronian technology from the Dreamwave portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Dimensional Interface Assembly is a machine housed in Iacon Command. It serves a function complementary and similar to the space bridge. Its primary function is to retrace the trans-dimensional pathway a space bridge has provided so as to find out where the space bridge has sent something off to. Its secondary function is to actually act as a foldspace gate itself.

Dreamwave Generation One continuity

Megatron and Optimus Prime were thought dead after they disappeared into the experimental space bridge 1.4 million years earlier, but Megatron's return to Cybertron confirmed that the two factions had been mistaken. As Megatron began the Age of Internment, the Autobots who evaded capture set up base in Iacon. Going over their options, the possibility of starting a search for Optimus Prime seemed one of the less suicidal ones. So, the Dimensional Interface Assembly was built to find the missing Autobot leader.

After being educated on the use of the Dimensional Interface Assembly by Perceptor and then left to wait for his return, the Turbomasters killed time by playing a game of tear'n'chase. Flash was the target, and managed to elude his teammates until he got back in the Dimensional Interface Assembly room. Just at that moment though, the Dimensional Interface Assembly found the infraspatial correlation it had been programmed to look for and transported Flash to another world.. The Age of Wrath Pt.3

It didn't take long for the Autobots to figure out Flash was missing and to find the cause of his disappearance. Perceptor's investigation into the matter turned up that the Dimensional Interface Assembly was still in "search" mode and that it could not have transported Flash away on its own. Therefore, an outside influence must've been to blame—specifically, a "kink" in the space/time continuum left after parties unknown meddled with the original space bridge test. Unfortunately for Flash, right then the Autobots lacked the time to figure out the exact cause of the assembly's abnormal behavior and how to get him back. The Age of Wrath Pt.4
