Dropkick transport drones seemingly played a key role in the early days of the war launched by Megatron. Transforming from robots into Cybertronic flat bed trucks, they were used during energy raids both to transport warriors and to carry away the stolen fuel.

The Transformers cartoon

Nine million years ago Megatron approached a dockside warehouse, workplace of a young Autobot named Orion Pax, along with a fleet of his transport drones. After initially claiming he was simply looking for a place to "store his wares", once told that the site only stored energy, he dropped this pretense, and at his signal both transport drones and warriors transformed. After personally blasting both Orion and his girlfriend Ariel, he ordered the warriors to terminate the warehouse's other workers.

Sometime later, while the warriors engaged Guardian robots and the newly-arrived Optimus Prime, the transport drones prepared to remove the stored energy from the warehouse. What they didn't count on, however, was the presence of some time travelers determined to stop them at any cost. Their exit blocked by some of the warriors, these five heroes nonetheless risked their own lives and detonated the stockpiles, thereby destroying the warehouse. War Dawn

Wings Universe

Wings Universe is based on the Generation 1 cartoon, but deviates from it in cosmetic ways and continuity points.

A group of Elite Guardsmen were searching for Shadowcaster's base when Onslaught spotted a suspicious truck carrying large crates. One of the crates was knocked off as the truck rounded a corner, and the unlucky warrior was left to face the Combaticons on his own. The Coming Storm: Part 3

Beast Wars: Uprising

Dropkick-model Terrorbots were used by Dynamic Energon Distilleries to haul cargo and energon to different locations. Gnashteeth and Scorponok re-appropriated the DED fleet to steal the plant's energon when they broke away to start their criminal enterprise. A covertly-purchased warehouse now full of energon was enough to get the Darksyders started. Identity Politics

Years later, Gnashteeth (now Megatron) used the Dropkick drones in a trap to snare his rival Cryotek. Posed as statues in Megatron's private residence, Cryotek's invading gang had no idea they were surrounded until the Dropkicks activated and tore through the Minions of Unicron. Not All Megatrons

Transformers/Ghostbusters

Several transport drones deployed to fight back against Gozer but were ultimately destroyed by the interdimensional invader in the guise of a giant Starscream. Ghosts of Cybertron Part 2

Notes

  • The transport drones of the Generation 1 cartoon had no specific name of their own for over 30 years until Beast Wars: Uprising named them "Dropkicks" in homage to the movieverse drones of the same name from the 2007 console game.
