The Transformers 2010 story pages were published in TV Magazine from December, 1986, to June, 1987. The stories were primarily provided by Masumi Kaneda while the art was provided by both Studio OX and Ban Magami.

Much like the story pages associated with Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers, the 2010 story pages were not particularly concerned with telling stories like later series were, instead featuring mostly character fact files, match-ups and the occasional hypothetical situation. They did have one great task, however: As The Transformers: The Movie was not released in Japan until 1989, the burden of transitioning audiences from Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers (US seasons 1 and 2) into Transformers 2010 (US season 3) fell solely on the shoulders of the story pages. To spice things up, various "tricks" were employed, such as "subtly" implying that Galvatron may be a reborn Megatron in order to maintain an air of mystery to the circumstances that led to the state of affairs in the Transformers 2010 cartoon. A more detailed account of the events of The Transformers: The Movie was gradually revealed over the course of several story pages, but with the events always referred to as the "Unicron War".

Special Report! Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers 2010
Illustrated by: Studio Ox and Ban Magami

Supreme Commander Optimus Prime has died and Emperor of Destruction Megatron has gone missing, though the circumstances behind these events remain a mystery. The Matrix of Leadership has been passed to Hot Rod, transforming him into Rodimus Prime, the new leader of the Autobots. Alongside him are new warriors Arcee, Springer, Kup, Wreck-Gar, Wheelie and Blurr. Ultra Magnus, who was passed over for leadership, also joins him.

Hang in There, Metroplex!
Illustrated by: ?

Optimus Prime has died, leaving Metroplex to defend his corpse from an attack by Megatron and Trypticon. This makes absolutely no sense. It's just a toy advertisement. A whacked-out toy advertisement.

The Decepticons ally themselves with the alien menace of the Quintessons and attack with their newest combiner warrior, Predaking. In a sidebar, Rodimus Prime gives a hearty thumbs up to the offer of a "Transformers secret notebook" that readers can mail away for.

The Predacons Razorclaw, Divebomb, Headstrong, Rampage and Tantrum are introduced. They have been created by the Quintessons to serve the Decepticons.

The Autobot Triple Changers Broadside, Sandstorm and Springer are introduced. They have been built to counter the threat of the Decepticon Triple Changers.

The Sweeps, led by Scourge, are introduced. They were created from Decepticons who perished in the Unicron War. The Junkions, led by Wreck-Gar, are introduced next. They were built from rusted scrap metal and spaceship debris. The Sharkticons are introduced last, having been built to serve the Quintessons.

This is the Latest Autobot/Decepticon Chain of Command!
Illustrated by: Ban Magami

The new chains of command are introduced.

For the Autobots, Rodimus Prime is the new Supreme Commander. Beneath him, Ultra Magnus commands the Scramble City teams, the Aerialbots and the Protectobots. Then there are other subgroups, such as the Dinobots, Triple Changers, Minibots, Autobot Mini-Cassettes, Junkions, Autobot Cars and Female Autobots, who are all commanded by Jazz.

For the Decepticons, Galvatron is the new Emperor of Destruction. Beneath him, Cyclonus commands Scourge and his Sweeps as well as the remaining Seekers. Cyclonus also commands the Dinobase teams, the Stunticons and the Combaticons. Cyclonus has additional authority over the Decepticon Triple Changers, the Constructicons and the Insecticons (who are listed as independents). However, Soundwave and the Decepticon Mini-Cassettes report directly to Galvatron. Galvatron also bears authority over the Quintessons, who in turn command the Sharkticons and the Predacons.

The Great Decepticon Counter Offensive!
Illustrated by: Studio Ox

The threat of the newly reorganized Decepticons is revealed. They have added a new group to their team, the Battlechargers Runabout and Runamuck. The Sharkticons are described as the "pride of the Quintessons" and often team up with the Decepticons. Galvatron's other troops, such as Cyclonus, Scourge, the Sweeps and the Predacons, also increase the threat of the Decepticons.

Will the Autobots Triumph?
Illustrated by: ???

The Autobots are caught in a battle with Bruticus. They have underestimated the strength of the Decepticons' many combiner warriors, which is a mistake that will cost them.

The Ultimate Decepticon Combiner Soldier. This is Predaking!

Hoping to continue the success of Devastator, Menasor and Bruticus, the Decepticons have teamed up with the Quintessons to build their newest combiner, Predaking.

A Mysterious Decepticon Soldier Appears. He is the Colossal Cannon Soldier Gilthor!
Illustrated by: Studio OX

The Decepticons have once again teamed with the Quintessons and created Gilthor, a mammoth soldier combining the powers of Optimus Prime and Megatron. The Quintessons obtained Optimus Prime's specifications when they brought him back from the dead as a zombie in the past. Gilthor is built from the same Cybertonium alloys which made Prime so resilient. On top of that, his "Destrogun" is modeled after Megatron's gun-mode but powered up intensely. When he combines his shoulder artillery, Active Revolver and Destrogun, he can create the all-powerful "Bazooka Storm" attack.

Can the Autobots hope to defeat him!?

The Secrets of Super Car Mode
Illustrated by: Ban Magami

Up until now, the Autobots typically adopted vehicle modes based on modern Earth vehicles. Now, however, they have taken to becoming "super cars". The reason for this is because they are often active on other planets, and these are merely how the vehicles on other planets look.

Sky Lynx is revealed to be the only Autobot strong enough to stand up to Predaking, who is the greatest threat to the Autobots.

Which Leader is the Strongest?
Illustrated by: Studio Ox

Part 2: Original Leader Rivals. Optimus Prime (Autobots) vs. Megatron (Decepticons).

The most evenly matched rivalry in Transformer history, their fate following the end of the Unicron War remains a mystery.

Part 3: Subleader Rivals. Ultra Magnus (Autobots) vs. Cyclonus (Decepticons).

These days, though, all attention is on the rivalry between these two, as they are both capable warriors for their faction.

Part 4: 2nd Leader Rivals. Rodimus Prime (Autobots) vs. Galvatron (Decepticons).

Their battles tend to end in a draw, though Galvatron at times, despite his craziness, can give a hint of his true power.

Part 5: Cassette Leader Rivals. Blaster (Autobots) vs. Soundwave (Decepticons).

Soundwave was initially more powerful, but Blaster has evened the odds with his own legion of cassette warriors. The cassette warriors themselves are all evenly matched.

Part 6: Giant Base Robot Rivals. Metroplex (Autobots) vs. Trypticon (Decepticons).

Their battles shake the earth, though they are each evenly matched.

Part 7: Scramble Combination Rivals A. Superion (Autobots) vs. Menasor (Decepticons).

There is next to no gap in power between these two, apparently.

Part 8: Scramble Combination Rivals B. Defensor (Autobots) vs. Bruticus (Decepticons).

Defensor has the upper hand in power!

Part 9: Heavyweight Robot Rivals. Omega Supreme (Autobots) vs. Devastator (Decepticons).

Omega Supreme holds a grudge against Devastator from long ago, when Devastator betrayed him back on Cybertron.

Part 1: Grand Scramble Team.

Bruticus forms with the combination of Onslaught, First Aid, Slingshot and Skydive. Superion forms with the combination of Silverbolt, Blades, Drag Strip, Wildrider and Brawl. Menasor forms with the combination of Motormaster, Vortex, Streetwise, Groove and Fireflight. Defensor forms with the combination of Hot Spot, Blast Off, Swindle and Breakdown. Superion and Menasor shake hands while beneath them, Dead End and Air Raid do the same. Apparently, if these rivals could consent to get along, their team up would be full of wild combinations.

Part 2: Cassette Team.

Since the Decepticon and Autobot cassette warriors are built at the same scale, they could go live in whoever's tummy they want.

Part 3: Triple Team.

The six Triple Changers shared between the Autobots and Decepticons each have 3 modes, which means that if they teamed up, they'd have 18 unique transformations with which to devise strategies.

Special News: Galvatron's True Form was Megatron All Along!
Illustrated by: Ban Magami

Everyone suspected that Galvatron was the same as Megatron because they looked the same, sounded the same and acted the same...but no one could figure it out! As it turns out, Megatron was injured during the Unicron War and sent drifting helplessly through space until he was rebuilt by Unicron.

Special News: Transformation Patterns Revealed! These Are the New Transformations!

The transformations of the new Autobots and Decepticons are faster and cooler than ever! The transformations of Rodimus Prime, Wreck-Gar, Blurr and Cyclonus are illustrated in detail.
