General Grievous

Grievous is a Separatist general in Star Wars.

Sadly, he's still not as badass as he was in Star Wars: Clone Wars

General Grievous has trained in the art of lightsaber combat with the evil Count Dooku. He is skilled in several unorthodox fighting techniques, such as a "furious four-lightsaber assault", and has used these skills to cut down several Jedi Knights. Now, Grievous changes into Wheel Bike mode to hunt and destroy Obi-Wan Kenobi and the remaining Jedi.[1] He is the leader of the Separatist army, which apparently has lots of droids.[2] We're repeatedly told that he's much-feared, and he is guarded by his personal bodyguards, the MagnaGuards.[3]

He seems to be a raging religious bigot against Jedi. But what manner of being is this Grievous?

He's very proud of his little brother.
  • General Grievous / Wheel Bike (2006)
    • Accessories: Gun, Missile/Red Lightsaber, 2 lightsabers (green & blue), General Grievous figure
Grievous transforms into a Wheel Bike, equipped with a laser cannon and a side-mounted cockpit. He can store his two lightsabers behind his back and between the half-wheel kibble. The firing missile from his cannon also doubles as a red lightsaber, giving him three sabers in total.
His hands are quite poseable; all of his fingers are all molded together but are double jointed and all four of his thumbs can rotate. While this is a cool detail, his lightsabers cannot peg into his hands so they rely on friction to hold them in place and it makes for a rather loose fit. His gun is removable but due to how his hands are designed, he can't really hold it in his hands.
Like all the initial Star Wars toys, the toy includes a tiny figure of the actual character, who can sit in the pilot's seat to operate the vehicle form.
General Grievous is a more recent victim that suffers from Gold Plastic Syndrome. His pelvis, arms and legs, as well as the vehicle backpack are all made out of gold plastic with many thin parts in the jointing, leaving them especially prone to breakage.

Crossovers

This will make a fine addition to my collection.
  • General Grievous to Grievous Starfighter (2008/2009)
    • Accessories: Gun, missile, 2 lightsabers (green & blue)
Part of the second wave of Transformers Crossovers Star Wars figures, this version of General Grievous transforms into his own starfighter. It comes with two lightsabers, one green and one blue, which can be held in his hands or stored in slots in the back of his ship mode engines. The sabers fight so tightly in his hands that the gold paint is prone to scraping off of the saber hilts. Also included is a hand-held blaster with spring-loaded missile. The blaster doesn't fit in either of his hands very well, and it can't be stored anywhere while Grievous is in robot mode.
While the arms and legs have excellent articulation, his waist is held in place due to the large amount of kibble connected at the waist locking into his back during transformation. His head can turn from side to side. His "ear" panels are separate pieces from his head and are prone to popping off pretty easily and are best glued in place.
Like all of the Crossovers figures, it does not come with a pilot mini-figure, but still has an opening cockpit with space for one, specifically the Grievous mini-figure from the previous mold of the character.
This toy was first available in 2008 in blue and white packaging, and was later re-released in 2009 in new red and white packaging that also adds an apostrophe to the toy's name, making it "Grievous' Starfighter".

Shorter than expected.
  • General Grievous to Grievous' Starfighter (2011)
Part of the first wave of a smaller, simpler class of Crossovers toys, this Grievous also transforms into his personal starship. In starship mode, his landing gear are permanently extended. In robot mode, it features a simpler transformation and is the first transforming Grievous to have four arms, each armed with a retractable lightsaber. Due to his transformation, the arms share a common upper arm. Because of his retractable lightsaber gimmick, Grievous doesn't have real hands—only barely noticeable sculpted detail at the end of his arms.
He features a panel on his chest (one that is similar to the ones found on class III Darth Vader/Anakin's turbine cannons) which flips up to act as a handle for class III figures to hold him in ship mode as a weapon (though it ends up just looking like he's just holding a starfighter).
