Hornhead
From Transformers Wiki
- Hornhead is a Laser Beast from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Hornhead (ホーンヘッド Hōnheddo) is a model soldier. He lives his life by a strong code of selfless service, following his orders to the letter, willing to lay down his life for the Laser Beast Corps without a moment's hesitation or an ounce of regret. He is a serious beast who is all business, the ideal foot soldier in Tigerburn's army. There is no malice in him, no hate, just unshakeable loyalty to the society that created him.
This manifests in a style of fighting that is incredibly straightforward. He just charges in full-tilt, shrugging off attacks and plowing into the thick of battle. The "Daredevil Bufallo" (yes, we know he's not a buffalo) shows no fear as he wades through his opponents, knocking them aside with his massive strength. And if he needs to attack from a distance, his Shatter Horn Laser (シャトルホーンレーザー Shatoru Hōn Rēzā) MVP Weapon can produce concussive blasts capable of smashing armor and bone to flinders.

Beastformers comic
A Laser Beast who looked a lot like Hornhead was among those who were unhappy with how their society was growing increasingly callous and machine-like. He and several others left their underground empire and traveled to the surface of Beast, where they founded a new civilization that would over time become the Beastformers.
Many many many years later, Hornhead was among a group of Laser Beasts caught up in a flood when their underground kingdom was hit by natural disasters. Legend of the Three Wise Ones
Toys
Beastformers
- Hornhead (Laser Beast, 1988)
- ID number: 105
- Accessories: "Shatter Horn Laser" (usually)
- Part of the second —and rarer— assortment of Takara's Beastformers individually-boxed Laser Beasts, Hornhead is an anthropomorphic bighorn sheep in high-tech purple armor. His left arm ends in a three-bladed harpoon-like weapon. He has a transparent orb in his torso, revealing the elemental power of Fire, Water, or Wood when you look through it into a light source.
- Nominally, he comes with the ram-themed "Shatter Horn Laser" blaster. However, there is also a chance he could come with the weapon from one of the other 11 Laser Beasts in his shipping case; matching the Beasts with their same-numbered weapons was part of the "role-playing game" attached to the line, encouraging kids to buy more of the toys.
- This toy was never released in Hasbro's Battle Beasts line, not even in the limited capacity most "Shadow Warriors" were. As such, it commands a high price on the secondary market.
Notes
- It is unknown what Hornhead's Hasbro Battle Beasts name would have been. He was slated to be released in one of twelve "motorized vehicle" (aka Battlecruiser) sets. The Pre-Toy Fair 1988 catalogue shows him on the blue-and-white mole-type vehicle, but it's entirely possible he would have come with a different one; this assortment never made it to packaging sample stage.
