Hustlebear is a Laser Beast from the Generation 1 continuity family.

There's not much to Hustlebear (ハッスルベア Hassurubea) at first glance. A cold-weather operative from northern climes, he rarely shows emotion, coming off as cold and unfeeling (even compared to the average Laser Beast), and is a bit on the dim side to boot. But it's a mistake to underestimate this slow, plodding beast. When he gets mad, he explodes with sudden fury, becoming a storm of violence.

Physically, his strength is staggering. When worked up, he can crumble a small mountain with a single punch. Worse, his MVP Weapon, the Strong Claw Laser (ストロングクローレーザー Sutorongu Kurō Rēzā), can deliver a powerful shock that, with a strong enough hit, can effectively disintegrate its target.

Hustlebear—or someone who looked like him—was one of the Laser Beasts who were unhappy with how their society was growing increasingly callous and machine-like, so he and the rest of Brownlion's unit left their underground empire and traveled to the surface of Beast where they founded a new civilization that would become the Beastformers. Part of the second—and rarer—assortment of Takara's Beastformers individually-boxed Laser Beasts, Hustlebear is an anthropomorphic grizzly bear in high-tech purple armor. His left has been molded in an open-palmed clawing position. He has a transparent orb in his torso, revealing the elemental power of Fire, Water, or Wood when you look through it into a light source.

Nominally, he comes with the narwhal-themed "Strong Claw Laser" blaster. However, there is also a chance he could come with the weapon from one of the other 11 Laser Beasts in his shipping case; matching the Beasts with their same-numbered weapons was part of the "role-playing game" attached to the line, encouraging kids to buy more of the toys.

This toy was actually released in Hasbro's Battle Beasts line as part of the "Shadow Warriors" series, but in an exceptionally limited capacity, and only in parts of Europe. It was released on an individual card as a "Battle Charger", coming with a unique bear-themed shield and a dark-gray version of the W Battler sled. Naturally, this makes this version very expensive to obtain, moreso than the Takara release.
