Jōji Yanami (八奈見 乗児 Yanami Jōji, August 30, 1931 - December 3, 2021) was a veteran Japanese voice actor who was born as Shigemitsu Shirato (白土 繁満 Shirato Shigemitsu), and was represented by the talent agency Aoni Production. A few of his many roles include King Kai, Dr. Briefs and various characters in the Dragon Ball franchise in addition to being the narrator of the series, Professor Yumi in Mazinger Z, Totosai in Inuyasha, Mayor Boodle in One Piece, Gennai in Digimon Adventure, Ittan Momen in GeGeGe no Kitarō and Pochi in Devilman.

In the realm of dubbing work, he has dubbed over the voices of Filmore in Cars, Frank in The Incredibles, Grimsby the Valet in The Little Mermaid, Gandalf in the 1978 Lord of the Rings movie, Master Splinter in VHS dub of the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and the Doorknob in the TBS dub of Alice in Wonderland.

Yanami passed away at the age of 90 due to natural causes.^[1]
