Lake Erie is a massive body of water on Earth, straddling the line between the United States and Canada. The manufacturing hub of Detroit is located on or near its shores, and somewhere in the middle is Dinobot Island.

When the Autobots' out-of-control spacecraft plummeted to Earth, it landed in Lake Erie.
Fifty years later, self-replicating nanites fell into the lake, and found their way to the Autobot craft, reactivating the ship's computers and crew. Transform and Roll Out
When the Autobots were attempting to repair their ship so they could get off Earth, they ended up battling with Blitzwing and Lugnut, the former Decepticon at one point froze the surface of the lake. After the battle, Starscream found the two Decepticons on the lake shore. Lost and Found Captain Fanzone lost his phone overboard during a trip back from Dinobot Island. Survival of the Fittest
Lake Erie was completely frozen over during winter, when Blackarachnia kidnapped Sari Sumdac and attempted to get the small human to lead her to the AllSpark. When the Autobot ship was revealed to be underwater, Blackarachnia realized her organic half meant she wouldn't be able to reach it, however at that point the Autobot ship broken through the ice as it lifted off. Following the battle with Megatron, the ship ended up crashed on Dinobot Island, and the Autobots and Decepticons had a battle which raged across the surface of the lake, as well as on the island. In the aftermath of his defeat, Megatron ended up on the lake shore. Megatron Rising - Part 2 Blackarachnia later washed ashore on Dinobot Island. Black Friday
Bulkhead transwarped a blazing fuel tank over the lake moments before it exploded near Dinobot Island. Three's a Crowd Sentinel Prime had a brief dip in Lake Erie while being carried out to Dinobot Island by Jetfire and Jetstorm. The island subsequently diminished in size due to a transwarp detonation.
