A Light Bender is a handy little device for covert operations. With it, one can bend light to make very convincing illusions, even complete invisibility. However, a Light Bender doesn't generate its own light to bend, so it's not so useful in dark places.

Nightra had a Light Bender which she used to evade capture by Blastwave. Strongarm eventually worked out that it was useless in the dark and managed to capture her. Guilty As Charged Steeljaw's Pack has a Light Bender which Clampdown used to render a cargo container invisible so he could trap Strongarm and Sideswipe in it. Breathing Room

Cyclonus's team of Decepticons used Light Benders to disguise themselves as Autobots, so that they could be elected as leaders of Cybertron. They evidently also supplied the devices to their security forces, as Light Benders were used to conceal efforts to build a space bridge receiver on Earth. The Bee Team successfully disabled the Light Benders, exposing the council as Decepticons. Freedom Fighters
