They outsmarted the Transformers, but were no match for Commander Keen!

Despite their appearance, the "little informants" are members of the most knowledgeable race in the galaxy, as well as the most curious. They also have the ability to ingest raw matter and convert it through some unknown internal process into raw energon, which they can then regurgitate. Whether this ability to vomit Energon is natural or artificially induced is unclear.

Fiction

Transformers in 3-D

Two informants were hired by a Quintesson to obtain the contents of the Autobot and Decepticon data banks. The pair lured parties from both Transformer factions to a distant asteroid and allowed themselves to be captured. While they were experimented on to determine how they produced the Energon, they also managed to steal each side's data. When the conflict inevitably escalated into another battle, the two informants used Quintesson teleporters to escape the two laboratories. They met on the asteroid surface to discuss what they'd learned, before returning to their Quintesson employer to turn over the data. Even the Quintesson didn't seem sure what he needed the data for. The Test

Notes

  • The aliens went completely unnamed in the story they originate from; since the Quintesson colloquially refers to them as "our little informants", we've opted to do the same in the absence of any better alternative.
  • The concept of a species capable of converting food into energon through their digestive processes would later be revisited in the form of the Probat in Transformers: Galaxies.
