Medix (G1)
From Transformers Wiki
This article is about the Generation 1 Autobot. For the Aligned Rescue Bot, see Medix (RB). |
- Medix is an Autobot Protectobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.
The newest member of the Protectobots, Medix is dedicated to his job as a first responder. A field medic in only the most basic sense of the word, his main goal on the battlefield is to keep his critically wounded patients online and stable until someone like Ratchet or First Aid can take a look at them. It's messy, sometimes ugly, work, which leaves Medix emotionally distant from the rest of the Autobots, and even his fellow Protectobots. Perhaps as a result of his grim line of work, he's cultivated a very dry sense of humor.
As a standby Protectobot, Medix can combine with his teammates into Defensor, replacing any teammate too injured to combine. That said, his inexperience with the combination process leaves Defensor glitchier than normal. This probably also affects Modulus, of whom Medix is also a component.

With a growing number of combiners serving in the Autobot military, Autobot commanders recognized that the giants came with several drawbacks, chief among them their inability to function if a teammate was incapacitated. The Protectobots thus inducted Medix as the newest member of their team, joining Rook, Skyfeather, and Heatrock as backup teammates. Customization class Medix bio

Toys
Combiner Wars
- Medix (BotCon 2016 customization class)
- Accessories: Combiner hand/foot, axe
- Exclusive to BotCon 2016's customization class, Combiner Wars Medix is a redeco of Combiner Wars Deluxe Class First Aid. Like all Combiner Wars Deluxe toys, he can become an arm or a leg for any compatible Voyager Class figure (including Unite Warriors figures) or into one of Legends Godbomber's legs, though he is intended to become part of Modulus (or as a backup component of Defensor).
- Class participants were given four deco options for the Ratchet head (Marvel G1, cartoon G1, G2, and Shattered Glass Ratchet) and a fifth deco option for the automatically-included-in-the-sprues First Aid head as Medix. Four sticker sheets were available, but class participants were only allowed a G1 sticker sheet and one other of their choice.
- Class participants who finished creating their toy in-class were given an exclusive Enigma of Combination accessory that can be either held by Ratchet/Medix or fit into Ultra Prime or Optimus Maximus's chest. Unpainted/unstickered versions of Ratchet with the Ratchet head were offered for sale at the convention to regular attendees.

Legacy
- Autobot Medix (Deluxe Class, 2023)
- Accessories: 2 Blasters, vehicle grill/gun, smaller gun, lightbar
- Known designers: Mark Maher (Hasbro), Shuhei Umezu (TakaraTomy)[1]
- Released as a Legacy: Evolution Deluxe, Autobot Medix is a redeco of Legacy Crankcase (itself a retool of the same line's Skids) with Burn Out's head (giving the car a very sunken in hood), transforming into an emergency vehicle-ish offroad car. In addition to the mold's standard weaponry, he includes recolors of Elita-1's blasters and the lightbar from Minerva. As with Crankcase, Medix can transform with the vehicle grill/blaster on.
- Before the toy was even unveiled by Hasbro, Medix was indirectly revealed from a customer's order of Legacy Crosscut, where the latter was mispackaged in Medix's box.
- Medix was first sighted at Malaysian Toys"R"Us stores, then later sighted at various GameStop stores in Canada. The figure is a Walgreens exclusive in the United States, with limited quantities available from Hasbro Pulse.
- Stock photos show off the "Evo-Fusion" gimmick of the toyline by sticking all four of his blasters together to create a large, unwieldy-looking weapon. This combination of weapons is not detailed in his instructions, but can also be seen in a product shot on the back of his packaging.

Notes
- Medix is based on the Rescue Bots character of the same name, with his deco taken from the character's Playskool Heroes toy.
