Overair (facility)
From Transformers Wiki
This article is about the building that is sometimes a character. For the Micromaster, see Overair (Micromaster). |
- The Overair is an Autobot installation or Modulator from the Zone portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Airport Base (エアポートベース Eapōto Bēsu)—also known as Overair—is a key component of the Zone Base, serving as the complex's spaceport, where owner and operator Overair welcomes visitors to planet Zone from all over the galaxy. Like all the components of the Zone Base, the Airport Base can transform into a defensive battle station, armed with surface-to-air missiles to intercept any intruders into Zone airspace.
Sometimes, the base itself transforms into a sentient Modulator.

Upon the creation of the Zone Base, Overair was put in charge of the Airport Base. Zone Part 4
When the Decepticon Generals invaded Zone, the Airport Base attempted to fend the villains off. It transformed from its airport form into a massive artillery platform and let the Decepticons have it with volley after volley of completely and utterly pointless firepower. No matter how much firing was done, no actual damage was done to the Decepticons, who managed to make off with a sample of Energon Z. Fight! Toys
Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers
- Airport Base (Micro Transformers Station, 1990)
- ID number: C-342
- Accessories: 2 missiles, ramp
- Released in the Zone portion of Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, the Airport Base is identical to the Hasbro-release Decepticon airport base, transforming from a blue, grey and orange airport into a "launch station" armed with two large missiles.
- The universally-sized ramp packaged with the station allows it to link up to every other Micromaster Station and Micromaster Transport, but it's only actually useful in airport mode.
- The set comes with the Micro Transformer Overair, similarly identical to the Hasbro Decepticon Micromaster Airwave.
War for Cybertron: Earthrise
- Botropolis Rescue Mission (Galactic Odyssey Collection, 2021)
- Accessories: 2 barrels, blaster base, missile front, and back sections
- Known designers: AJ Piejko-Brown (packaging)
- Rebranded with the name of the Airport Base's operator, Earthrise Overair is a redeco of Airwave, keeping a similar deco layout but with a different color scheme from their original toy (since the Zone set was identical to its American counterpart) that is intended to represent a grounded space station.
- Overair has multiple A.I.R. Lock System connection points allowing for multiple building configurations, both official and fan-made. They transform via part-forming into either an airbase with tiny runways or a gun embankment, similarly to their Zone release, as well as a new treaded aircraft carrier form. Overair's parts can also be used to augment other figures as armor and add-on weapons, similar to the Weaponizers of the prior Siege toyline. Although Overair has swivels just above their elbows, the construction of their forearms makes them almost completely useless, as turning them at any angle other than straight forward, back, or to the sides will lock the elbow in place. The instructions lack the official armor/weapon configuration, though of course, Overair can still break apart and form said armor/weapons.
- According to the giftset's stock photography, Overair is intended to combine with their pack-in mate Ironworks to form a giant space station not too dissimilar to the Rocket Base, which is enhanced by the addition of Earthrise Doubledealer's two-piece missile, which attaches to Overair.
- Overair is part of the Encounter 5 set of the Amazon-exclusive Galactic Odyssey Collection, bundled with fellow Modulator Ironworks and the Astro Squad Micromasters.
- This mold was also used to make Generations Selects Hot House.
- Decepticon Airwave (Deluxe Modulator, 2020)
- Hasbro ID number: WFC-E18
- TakaraTomy ID number: ER EX-12
- TakaraTomy release date: October 23, 2020
- Accessories: 2 barrels, blaster base
- Rebranded with the name of the Airport's operator, Earthrise Airwave is a "Modulator", transforming via part-forming into either an airbase with tiny runways or a gun embankment, both based on the original Micromaster station. They can also transform into a new treaded aircraft carrier mode. Several of their pieces have A.I.R. Lock System connection points, which allow many different building configurations to link up with other toys in the line to form larger fortifications.
- Airwave's parts can also be used to augment other figures as armor and add-on weapons, similar to the Weaponizers of the prior Siege toyline. Airwave's instructions do not specify their armor configuration, though it can be found in their redeco's instructions.
- Although Airwave has swivels just above their elbows, the construction of their forearms makes them almost completely useless, as turning them at any angle other than straight forward, back or to the sides will lock the elbow in place.
- Like all Earthrise toys, the inside of the back of Airwave's package includes an exclusive clip-and-save piece of a larger star map. Also in the box is a thin red piece of transparent plastic with which to read the star map. Their piece features half of Gigantion but unlabeled, as the label is included with Quintesson Allicon. Airwave is the only Wave 2 Deluxe, Voyager, and/or Leader figure to feature a map piece that doesn't have an incorrect overlay from a previous piece.
Notes
- This and the other three Micromaster Stations were later re-used in Takara's Brave Police J-Decker toyline, omitting the Micromasters and adding a pair of non-transforming PVC mini-figures from the series.
- The Earthrise incarnation of "Overair" stands out among War for Cybertron Trilogy toys in recycling a name already used to distinguish the small Micromaster "Overair" from the large Modulator "Airwave".
